I hope not. This was not one of Apple's better ideas. If you have multiple displays, you gain about an inch on the main display and lose all others.

Maximized and fullscreen are not the same thing--I have no problem with Mac restarting maximized if that is how I left it [8-|]

I think what he meant is that it should stay in the state you left it in. The other apps that I have that allow fullscreen will return to fullscreen mode on startup if that is how they exited.
Not true Jack. I run it in full screen on multiple displays. Once you have Logos 5 pulled up full screen, you can still float windows and just move them to the secondary screen. That way, Logos is the only thing up (great for focus) and you can still use both monitors.

Thank you for that information. Somehow dragging a window over to that blank screen never occurred to me. When even the background picture disappeared, I thought the OS had disconnected from that display.
