Lexham English Bible Constant Update
Every time I open Logos on my iPad I get a notice to update e Lexham English Bible, and every time I update it, but it keeps coming back.

Roger this was a known problem in the prior version of the iOS app. If you haven't done so, update Logos to the latest version (3.0.3)

Apparently it wasn't fixed or the fix hasn't made it through to us yet. I had the problem and it went away with the last iOS update. Guess that was just luck.

Did a little more checking. 3.0.3 came out on Oct 17 so it looks like whatever is causing this problem is yet to be addressed.

I am seeing this problem as well (3.0.3) - just hadn't got around to reporting it!

This is a known issue with previous builds. The fix should be included in the 3.1.1 build, which I believe has already been submitted to Apple.

Dear Alabama24, and other esteemed capable brethren (that includes the ladies too)
RE: "error loading book" message
I have been having an issue also with the Lexham English Bible download on my iPad 3. I got a message last night that two Lexham items needed updating and one was this Bible. I don't know what happened but when I tried to open the Lexham English Bible, I got an error message saying "error loading book" .
I tried removing the book and then redownload/installing and that appeared successful, but I still could not open the book getting the same error message.
I have Logos for Ipad version 3.1.1 (1744) installed.
Maybe this needs to be reported again or is there a fix I am missing?
Thanks for your help and God bless!

Do you have any of the other apps installed? If so, can you open the resource on those? Does it ask to update? If you use this resource, you may not want to click "ok." I just updated the LEB without incident, but I am on a beta build.

It might be good for you to post a "me too" in THIS THREAD. Make sure to include that its the LEB you are having troubles with… I don't think it is resource specific, but it might be.
I don't think this issue is the same as the previous one.

Hi, and thanks for your advice.
I am not sure what you mean by "other apps" above. All seems to work fine on my iPad Logos 4 app. I use it every morning in my personal study of a NT epistle.
I checked my Windows 7 computer to see if the LEB was there and was working and it is there and works, so why not on iPad? I don't know. I think I used it in the distant past on iPad, but can't swear to it.
I'll post to the "This Thread" that you mentioned above.
Thanks,
Ergatees

Logos has a number of apps, including "Faithlife" and "Vyrso." I will occasionally download Vyrso as a test app. It is the same engine as Logos with less features. (Faithlife has more features than Vyrso, but different ones than Logos… it is social in orientation. NOTE: The Faithlife app is much larger than Logos as it requires the download of all Faithlife resources (including pictures).
There are some advantages to having two of the apps installed… you can use various swipe motions to move between up to four split screen resources.

Alabama24,
Thanks for the explanation! I don't use either of those two "apps". My "c" drive is limited in space and I am thinking a minimal update to Logos5 would even require another computer..

I don't know if you are joking, or if I am not understanding you. What does your "c" drive have to do with installing Vyrso on your iPad (unless by "c" drive you mean space on your iPad)?

Sorry. I was not joking. I was just adding that after checking my computer that as a side note that I will not upgrade to Logos5 because my "C" drive on the computer has limited space and a 30GB minimun download would eat up most of that space. This of course has nothing to do with iPad.
Sorry for the misunderstanding,

OK. [:)]
In the other thread, Fred said that he tried opening up the LEB on faithlife with no success. I think the issue may be related to your account, but that is only a guess. I was able to open the LEB on my wife's phone with the 3.1.1 build.
SIDENOTE: You should really look to upgrade your HD if it is as full as you say. I try to keep my HD's no more than 2/3 full… it really slows down performance, and not only for Logos. Are you on a computer that you can replace the HD?

I can confirm that the same error occurs with all three apps and I am as up to date as I can be. It seems to have begun with the last Lexham English Bible update and I have removed the book to redownload it with the same results.
I can also say that it works fine on my iPhone4 and on my desktop. The only problem appears to be on my iPad3.

I can reproduce this behavior. I'll check with development about it and file a case if need be.

I have 3.1.1.1744 and still have the same problem (each time I open the app I am told I have 1 resource--LEB to update)

The bug came back only recently (after an resource update). Remove the book by tapping the "i" and tapping "remove" and then re-download the book. It should work then.

Hip, hip, hurray!
The fix is in. I downloaded the LEB this morning and it did install and open without any problems.
Thanks, forum members and Logos for getting this done.

I am using 3.2.4, a few months on, and still seem to have the same issue ... at least I think it is the same issue ... I cannot remove the LEB from my iPad. Every time I ask it to go, it comes back as a download.
It is not marked for download in the desktop app's library and yet it keeps on appearing. I am not sure that it is overly resource intensive, it just seems strange that there is a resource that I MUST download ... or it is a bug?
I have considered hiding it in the library but seem to remember reading somewhere that the LEB is used to under-pin a whole host of desktop features that I would rather not lose. Is that the case? Would hiding the LEB in the desktop disable desktop functionality?
All I want to do is stop the LEB appearing in my iPad searches, free-up a (tiny) bit of storage, and stop those 'resource to update' messages!!!
Thanks.

I'm not sure. I think it might be a bug… but on your account, rather than on the app. Hopefully Logos will be able to jump in here soon. If not, create a new thread with "bug:" as the prefix.

The LEB is bundled as part of the mobile application. In past versions we bundled the ASV and it too could not be removed. The purpose of bundling is to ensure there is at least one Bible always available when offline. The "resource to update" messages should go away if you stop removing the LEB.

No, but it would break the mobile app (there's an existing case for that issue).

That is helpful to know. I assume that means we can now remove the ASV?

Yes... in fresh installs the ASV is no longer downloaded, and with older installs it can safely be removed if already downloaded locally.
