Error loading book - could not load the specific book (iPad screen stuck)

Hi community,

I am needing some help. I have an iPad 3 (operating version 5.1.1) and use the Logos Bible app. It has served me well, however, it currently is stuck on a screen that says "error loading book - could not load the specific book." It does not allow me to move beyond this screen. Actually, the prompted message pops up, then appears in a smaller size, and reappears to the larger size continually, not allowing me to do anything with the program.

I have tried restarting the program as well as the iPad. Any thoughts?

My main concern is whether or not I will lose all my highlighting and notes that I've put into the Bible app.

Thanks for any help, thoughts, or pointers!

- Jon

    Jonathan -

First, welcome to the forums. Sorry you are having troubles. [:S]

I have tried restarting the program as well as the iPad. Any thoughts?

Those are my first two suggestions… so I will move to #3. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app? NOTE: you will lose you downloaded resources.

My main concern is whether or not I will lose all my highlighting and notes that I've put into the Bible app.

If you are using the app as it is intended, I assume your notes & highlights have transferred into the cloud. Are they accessible in L4? If so, they should download back to your device after you reinstall the app.

    Jonathan, welcome to the forums.

As long as you had an internet connection during or after creating content, Logos would have synched the data to their servers and it would be found on a computer installation of Logos.

At this point, after what you've tried, it is probably best to uninstall the Logos app and install it again. You'd lose any resources you've downloaded. They'd have to be downloaded again, later. Your notes and highlights should show back up after you are running again.

EDIT: Alabama got to you as I was typing.

Your notes and highlights should show back up after you are running again.

This really should be true unless you were running in Airplane mode and/or not connected to the internet.

  • Thanks for the help everyone! Well, I noticed a new update and went ahead and installed it. It erased all my highlighting and notes, however. I THEN attempted to reinstall it, but... the results were still the same. Perhaps I should have just reinstalled it first.

Again, thank you for the help everyone.

  • What! Haha, praise the Lord! =))

The notes and everything just reappeared! Puts a big smile on my face. Thank you, Lord... and you guys as well!!!

It can take a while for the notes/highlights to download. Closing the app will stop the process… Sometimes it takes several tries to get it all to download… this is especially true with larger data files.

Hey guys I am having this same error on my 2 Generation IPOD in both my Logos app and Vyrso app. I deleted the logos app and reinstalled, only to have the same issue. I recently bought and downloaded Logos 5 on my computer and I believe this is the reason why my Logos app on my IPOD is not working. On my IPOD I am unable to download the latest updates for the app because my IPOD has to remain at a lower IOS than the needed level. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated and thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forums, Nicholas! Sorry you are having troubles. [:S]

I would suggest that you create a new thread. Make sure you include the app version number and the error message. You situation is unique and it would be best to focus the conversation.

Guys, I'm at this point too, stuck on the Book Info part where it's trying to download my books. I had to hard-reset my iPhone 4 and do a fresh install of everything...all the apps and such. Trying to re-download the books I had on the Logos app and it's not loading ANYTHING. It just shows me that little "thinking" circle...all day and all night. Once in a while it'll say it cannot download this or that resource, I click ok, and it keeps on the same thing. I've tried closing and restarting, even deleting the app, etc. Same problem pops up. Suggestions?

    Ben.

Hi Ben! Welcome to the forums. [:)]

It might be helpful if you would create a new thread and explain clearly your issue. It doesn't sound to me like you are experiencing the same issue. Are you trying to download your books? (That's not what the OP was trying to do). Is the app crashing? Do you have a lot of notes? Highlights? How much space is on your device? Did you try a reinstall without automatically downloading your resources?
