Has Logos also changed the desktop icon colors from blue/white to white/blue? [:)]

Downloaded and installed without a hitch (Windows 7). I notice the splash screen has been updated. Just waiting for indexing to complete...

Weird. New icon on taskbar:
but it changes to the old icon when it's running.
I think the new one looks cluttered. But I'm not going to sell my software because of that.

Ok. Thanks Todd I didn't notice the new icon. Must say it doesn't catch my eye as pleasing, but I get they want to differentiate Logos 4 & Logos 5.

Yes, I've just noticed that also. Within the program itself, the icon is the same as before. I do think that there should be some distinction between L4 and L5 icons. Software has traditionally updated the icons with new major releases.

The new icon is pretty ugly at small sizes (e.g. taskbar, start menu). I much prefer the old one. It they want a new look, it would be better to just remove the background.

Perhaps just reversing the colors of the old icon. thats pretty much what they have done, with the exception of the blue border. I do thing that the icon for L5 should be different than L4.

Does the icon really need to be different from the L4 one? It's not like a user would have both installed under the same account, since that doesn't appear feasible anyway.

Thankfully, we Mac users do not have ugly icons [8-|]
The L5 icons appears to be slightly darker than the L4 one did. Don't change it—I like this one—Libronix was ugly.

I believe so. Even if it is a small difference. It differentiates (without opening the program) which Logos is loaded on a computer/user account. All in all, it does not make a bit of difference in functionality one way or another. It just follow an industry standard (written or not) of software upgrades. Software companies generally change the icons somewhat when they release a major upgrade.

That's the small change. [:)]
And, generally, that's all that is needed. I'm on a PC and can't see that one, but if they did the same here (on the PC), that would be good also.

I get this in the English UI in L5 SR-4. I'm not running beta, but saw that in the release notes and didnt know where else to post.

Splash screen during initial launch looks a bit different:
It's garish (adjective, obtrusively bright and showy.)
I'm wondering about the lack of functionality - has there been a change to the initial Sync, or have Logos just prevented users from interrupting it?

Maybe there's an internal power struggle going on at Logos between the Blue-Whites and the White-Blues, sort of reminiscent of this:

I don't have Logos on my taskbar (I launch it from a programmable key on my keyboard), it does not change to the old icon when Logos is running. Is it still doing it for you after a few days? (Wondering what happens after the Windows icon cache is cleared.)
I don't really like the new icon. If we're voting, I'll cast my ballot in favor of the previous icon - blue-white vs. blue-white-blue.
The splash screen is fine. Not as nice as the old one (IMHO), but I only look at it for a few seconds.

Hi Richard;
There are some inconsistencies concerning the new Logos icon. The desktop, taskbar, and quickstart panel in Windows all show the new icon (blue-white-blue). The icon within L5 itself shows the old icon (blue-white). None of the icons change when Logos is running.
The new splash screen is nice, and very clean.
I actually like the reversed colors of the new icons. The only change to it that needs to occur is to just reverse the colors of the old one. Instead of blue-white-blue, just change it to white-blue.
I have to install Snagit on my system one day, in order to post proper screen shots. Used it in the past when I doing a lot of training and support.

That would be better at least. The thick blue border around the thin looking-glass is (imho) just butt-ugly.

Jing will give you most of what you need for free - but since you're running windows, the "Snipping Tool" comes with it and works well (under tools or accessoires or so)

I agree. Logos may have initially intended for it to be white-blue (not sure though). I've seen something similar to this happen before. It has something to do with the layers of the graphic image.

I just played around with the "Snipping tool" and it's quite good. Thanks for the push to start looking into some of these things. [:)]
EDIT: Now, I guess it's time for me to also look into my Logos forum profile and complete that, since it appears as though I'll be around for a while as a member of the forums. [:)]

Butt-ugly sums it up. Maybe if the blue border was not as thick ? Nah I'd prefer the original, the new one gives me the impression of something that is incomplete. Really don't understand how they design got approved.

Andrew, did you see this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/61179.aspx ? I'm now using the shiny icon with blue gradient colo(u)r Doc posted. Fits extremely well to the Win7 background of the taskbar and the desktop.
The small icon signalling downloads and indexing is still the new white one, but this is the one with a much smaller blue border, so it's more like a small white square.

Thanks Mick. Hadn't seen that one yet.
