Bug in the Price Calculator

On the Thursday Logos 5 launch, I saw my price to upgrade to Platinum is 5xx.

Then on the next day, Friday, I saw it at 668.42. I sent an email to a Logos staff and they say that the calculator is right.

I then typed that number to my excel file so I know it exactly, unlike last time that I only remember the first digit 5xx.

Today, I check it again and I see it at 685.16.

Meanwhile, my status didn't change (academic discount), nor do I made any purchase (even if there's any purchase the price should goes down, not up).

So I really want someone from Logos figure out the real issue here and quote me the real price.

Thanks.

    Kolen,

It seems a bit strange that one day after launch your price went up as much as it did. It is possible Logos was having some problems with the calculator initially.

The most recent price change you've seen is due to repricing of some of the individual resources in the collection, something Logos does on an on-going basis. The discount remains the same, but the price goes up (or down) as the prices of underlying resources change.

I believe you'll find that your real price, in spite of the confusion, is $685.16.

Great isn't it?  A couple of days ago my upgrade price was $900.  I added about $1000 worth of resources yesterday, and now my upgrade price has increased to over $1000.  Go figure.

on a different thread, Logos admits to reducing the sales discount, which has an effect of raising the price.  They also fixed some other pricing items, which may explain the other price changes.

For a brief moment when we launched , we were accidentally stacking ownership, role, and promotional discounts for Academic upgrades. We fixed this very shortly after launch.

Today we had to adjust the price for some of the items included in Minimal Crossgrade, which resulted in some slight price changes to some upgrades containing the adjusted content.

The price you are seeing currently is the correct one.

Alex, please clarify this for me. Of that $1000 of added resources, how much of that exists in the upgrade package you are looking at?

What a pity. I can't imagine how much Logos screw up this time....

rationally of course I know I didn't lose anything. But emotionally I would never buy things that's more expensive than the price I've seen. And given that they think their price is right now, they won't offer it at that price anymore. So I've missed the once in a life deal, and it makes me would never buy it. If the system has displayed the price correctly at the very beginning, then on would buy it at this price.

i don't know if any of you have try it, like if you are traveling in a desolated place, you see a coke selling for 2 dollars and you didn't buy it. Later on you are really thirsty but the price becomes 3. Well unless I'm dying I won't buy it.

But Logos would still get my money, for the minimum cross grade. Just hope that I won't see the price go higher again tomorrow.

sigh, even Logos get my money, it makes one more sad customer. Really hopes that Logos won't screw up on 6 again. After all most sales are driven by emotional response, isn't it?

    Kolen,

Certainly you don't mean that if Logos mistakenly advertised a Coke for $2.00, then after you saw the sign they corrected their error, that they would be wrong in doing so, do you? True, when you come back and see the $3.00 sign you'll be upset, but it was a mistake in the first place.

Logos honored the price you saw on the first day of the launch and may have lost money because of it. But once they realized the error they corrected it. The only real change since has been a small increase in cost due to changes in what they have to charge for some of the resources in the package you want.

I understand you are disappointed in not being able to afford the upgrade you hoped to have. I don't think Logos has done anything wrong.

None Mark.  They were all new products.

Funny you don't think Logos has done anything wrong. You just mention the word "mistakenly".

And it is not unobvious to see the keyword of my passage is "emotional". Read that again and try to exercise counselling. Then you will feel why costumers will be upset by Logos' recent mistakes.

    They were all new products.

I assume you mean by 'new' that they are NOT part of the package you wanted to upgrade to?

If so, none of them would apply to the new package discount. Is that what you were expecting?

I found a lot of bugs in the calculator on the resources I partially have. I only name one as an example. The others are all similar.

HALOT: I own the concise HALOT only. And the calculator says I own 54 out of 56 resources from HALOT. Strange.

    Kolen,

I understand feelings which is why I said I understood you being disappointed. It seemed to me that you felt Logos did something wrong back on the second day of the launch when they did something they have since explained as correcting a mistake. While it was a disappointment to you that is not the same as saying Logos was wrong to do so. A mistake isn't a wrong against you or another person.

Personally I would be disappointed and perhaps frustrated, but the explanation would help and at least I would understand Logos was not trying to hurt me or other customers.

I have no problem to understand this. I used the word "rational" in my passage...

Anyway right now I am looking at either minimum cross grade or a combination of silver upgrade and minimum cross grade. There's report saying the latter minimum cross grade would be $6.xx making the silver upgrade instantly better.

now it's all rational. To me the platinum upgrade only worth a certain price at around 4xx, base on the calculation of the resources I am interested in. And for 5xx it is still affordable as an option to get some inessential resources at a great deal. 6xx (almost 700) make it doesn't really like a good deal.
