Search Speed

I am reluctant to ask this because I have been lurking in these forums for more than fifteen years.
I have been running Logos on PCs and MACs for the last 18 years. Most recently I have been running Logos on a 4+ year old MacBook Pro. I recently upgraded to a new MacMini with and i7 quad-core processor, 16 MB of memory and and SSD hard drive. I was looking forward to a huge performance improvement.
The entire operating system and all of my apps launched with great dexterity. Logos, too, launched very quickly. However, when I initiated a simple search ("Jesus + love") the search times were in excess of 16 seconds. Google searches of what must be a must vaster database are instantaneous. Am I doing something wrong or is this the normal, predictable response time?

Hi Richard,
Firstly, welcome!
I have just run a Basic search, 'Jesus AND love', across my entire library and Logos returned the results in under six seconds. I am working on a MBA 2011 (spec in the footer) at the moment. My system is, therefore, more modest than your own.
I am wondering, therefore, whether your library is still indexing? Alternatively, how large is your library? Do you have a great number of PB, for instance?

How many resources do you have?
Running on a PC with (L4 Portfolio, L5 Silver & Minimal Crossgrade) plus a few extra titles
Making Disciples! Logos Ecosystem = LogosMax on Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (Win11), Android app on tablet, FSB on iPhone & iPad mini, Proclaim (Proclaim Remote on Fire Tablet).

I am getting much better speeds for that search in one Bible. Could you tell us more about the parameters of your search? Just one Bible? All Bibles? All resources? If Bibles, did you specify a Grid/Verses/Aligned/or Analysis view?
For all my English Bibles asking for a Grid report, it takes me 41.95 seconds. Grid reports are very slow. More normal searches are one Bible at a time for me and they are pretty quick (.30 second for that search in the NASB95).

Dear Richard,
I am using a 4.5 years old Windows Vista Laptop with 3 GB memory and here are the results.
It found 960,000 results in 13 seconds. That is pretty quick when compared to Logos 4.
This laptop will function till it dies.

Was this search time, or the time to completely display the result? Initiated this search in 57 Bibles (everything typed as Bible—of any language—in my Library). The search itself took less than 2 seconds. Display of the first screen was instantaneous for all practical purposes. The system worked of further display for several seconds, perhaps up to your 16.
Google displays the first page of results rather quickly, but does not tell us how long it takes to render those other pages. Google also uses a server farm far larger than the available space on your Mac Mini.
