Hiding and Deleting Books

I am not sure when this feature appeared, but once a book is hidden and you go to the list of hidden books, if you right click on a book you get two options: one to un-hide, and one to delete. A picture of this is on this page on the wiki.

I cannot find what "delete" does in the wiki. If I hit that, does that remove it permanently from my library? There may be a few that I want to do that to, but I want to be careful.

Can anyone help with this?

Hello Jerry,

I searched the Help in L5 and found this under the section "How do I remove a book from my library?":

...To Unhide a resource, hover over the resource in the Hidden Resources list to highlight the title, and then click on the delete (X) button. Restart Logos 5 for the change to take effect. After restarting, the resource will be downloaded automatically and reindexed.

I'm guessing that the "delete" from right-mouse click does the same thing? Just a guess.

And under the Help section called "Library Options", it states that we can hide multiple resources:

       Hide Resources:
   1.      Select one or more resources.
   2.      Hold down the Opt key (Mac) or the Ctrl key (Win) and right-click on part of the selected area.
   3.      Choose Hide this resource from the menu to move the selected resource(s) to the ‘Hidden Resources’ section in the Settings panel.

Thanks David, but this is not quite what I am talking about.

The "x" as described in the help section you quoted does indeed unhide a book. This is how it has been for a long time.

The right-click thing is something I just found. There are two options when you right click. One says "unhide" and the other says "delete." It would not make sense to have two different things that do the same exact thing.

Clicking "unhide" is obvious as to its function. So my question is: What does clicking "delete" do?

There is only one option: "Unhide".

"Delete" is the hot key to use to select that option (it you don't want to use the menu). It's confusing because there is only one option in the menu. It would be clearer if the menu had multiple options, like in this menu:

Thanks Todd! I knew I must have been missing something.

I would like someday to have the ability to totally delete a resource from my library - not just hiding it. For instance, I will never use The Woman's Bible Study notes. I could have a shorter/easier to manage hidden list if I could zap that and others forever.

I'm glad they don't have that option.

I was recently hiding some of the original language texts that I will never use.

Later I discovered that I had accidentally selected some that I did not mean to include. [:(]

I was glad that I was able to easily go back and UNhide them without having to try to remember what their exact titles were. [:D]

Unfortunately what might happen is that when Logos 6 comes around and the comparison chart shows me that I should have The Woman's Bible Study Notes in my library (forgetting that I had zapped it forever) I would question Logos where my resource is! At least this way someone can remind me to look in my program settings and point out my mistake.

Now picture thousands of people calling Logos wanting to know where this or that resource is at (accusing Logos of cheating etc.) and Logos having to take the time to unlock all of the books that they had permanently deleted again for them [:D]
