In Mark 6:3, we read: "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary,
and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? Are not His sisters here
with us?"

Jesus is called here “the son of Mary”. Let’s say, I would like to check if in the entire Bible there is another case where somebody
is called „a son of “x”. (The “x” represents the name of this man’s mother). Does
the Clause Search in Logos 5 make it possible?

I don't think you can do this in a clause search because you can't search nouns directly in a clause search, you can only search the Bible fact they have been tagged with.

You could do this with a syntax search, although the following Bible search works OK in the New Testament:

(<Lemma = lbs/el/υἱός> ANDEQUALS <LogosMorph ~ N?SM>) BEFORE 2 WORDS (<LouwNida ~ Louw Nida 93.1- 93.388> ANDEQUALS <LogosMorph ~ NG??>)

(<Lemma = lbs/el/υἱός> ANDEQUALS <LogosMorph ~ N?SM>) BEFORE 2 WORDS (<LouwNida ~ Louw Nida 93.1- 93.388> ANDEQUALS <LogosMorph ~ NG??>)

The search looks for the Greek word υἱός (son) that is a noun that is singular and masculine (that's what <LogosMorph ~ N?SM> means). The question mark is in the place of the case, and we're using a question mark because any case will do.

It also looks for words tagged with the Louw-Nida domain between 93.1 and 93.388. That's the range used for people's names. For this word, we want a noun that is genitive (that's the NG).

We tie all this together be specifying that the first word must be 2 words (which actually means 1 or 2 words) before the second word.

It's not possible to do this search in the OT, because Louw-Nida is only available in the NT. You could, of course, simply search for "son of".

Syntax Search uses tagged original languages Bibles for its sources, so there is comparable searches that can be done in the Old Testament. Syntax Search uses Anderson-Forbes Phrase Marker Analysis version of Hebrew Bible for its searches in Hebrew.

I own the Dictionary of Biblical Language with Semantic Domains. Could be it useful in this kind of search? Is there any video that deals with this topic?
