Improvements Wishlist for Android App ... post here!

Hi

Here are a few things I'd like to see in the app:

Saved Layouts

It's laborious to switch between resources at the moment e.g. I usually have Bible + NA27\LHI as my split screen, but when switching to a commentary for example, I have to bring up the library, search for the commentary, and then bring it up. To switch back to NA27, I have to do all this again.

Is there a faster way to do this in the meantime?

Saved layouts would allow faster switching.

Bible Word Study improvements

  • Show all Translation panel entries when clicking on the lemma in the coloured wheel as in Desktop app.
  • Show counts in the Translation section.

Improved Greek display

There are some missing characters and odd spaces when displaying Greek in a variety of places. See attached screenshots. Phone is an HTC One V.

List More Lexicons in Bible Word Study Definition

Why are only two listed? Would like to see all my lexica here as per desktop.

Keep up the good work!

Cheers
RIchard

Go to History and all previously accessed resources with last locations can be readily accessed.

So far as other new features for the Android are concerned, I'd like to see a full Logos 5 implementation for the Android app.  I only use my Kindle Fire HD 7" 32 Gb unit for my Bible use these days and rarely even look at the PC app.

Thus, the only way I could buy the upgrade to Logos 5 is if the Android app also included it.

Frankly, the AcroBible Android App NOW has most of the features Logos is developing for the future for it's Android App.  Logos developers should look at it and try to copy some of those features for itself.

I dito the suggestions above and add:

    1) scrolling by both page and line

    2) quick click option to quickly toggle the link on and off

    3) The ability to store resources on the external SD card (this ability is available in Olive Tree Bible and MySword so it is possible)

    1) scrolling by both page and line

Yes this would be nice - I'm often frustrated when the passage of interest is split over two pages, and it's awkward to adjust it.

    3) The ability to store resources on the external SD card (this ability is available in Olive Tree Bible and MySword so it is possible)

Logos won't run on my phone unless I have an SD card installed - not quite sure how this differs from your experience?

Please see my latest new post - it is now possible to put resources on external SD card!

    I would like to add

    4) ability to create collections and use them in a search

Selective resource location would be a nice addition. That is, the ability to chose where a resource is downloaded to, in this way we could keep our most referenced resources in main memory, less used ones (but ones we want to have available offline) on removable storage, and the rest online as it is now.

Would love to have smooth vertical scrolling - the current paging method frequently leaves me annoyed that the passage of interest is split across two screens and there seems to be no easy way to get it all on one screen without entering a new reference, which is awkward and clunky.

That's not going to happen. Your Kindle Fire HD doesn't have the power for it, and the Android OS doesn't have the development capacity for it. If Logos implemented all of Logos 5 in the Android app, it would be the most complex and power-hungry app on the entire Google Play market.

Over time, I'm sure more and more features will trickle over to the mobile side as power requirements and development schedules allow. But if you're waiting for full-fledged Logos 5 in Android, you're going to be waiting eight years or more.

I would like to the option to be able to view only the resources I've downloaded in my library.

There also really needs to be an easier way to look up the definition of a word.

    Ronald,

If you type "local:" in the library search box (without the quotes), you can view only the resources you have downloaded. You can also append a search query, such as "local:faith", for example, to find all downloaded resources matching the search term "faith".

I'd love to see morphological data available offline. I've been reading NA27 on the bus between home and work on my Kindle Fire, and without wi-fi there is no morphological date available.

Also, not so much a improvement request as a requested feature, but touch on a tablet just seems to screams sentence diagramming.

I didn't know you could do this - thanks.

    I'm revising/adding another suggestion:

    2) The ability to store resources on the external SD card (this ability is available in Olive Tree Bible and MySword so it is possible)

    3) When clicking on a verse it would be nice to see the whole verse in context and so I suggest a window that pops up that has a scrollable bible so you can scroll and see the verses before and after the focus verse (as it is now you only see the first verse of the range or even just part of the verse in some instances)

    4) The abiblity to use collections in a search so that yu can limit and control what resources are searched when wanting to search more than one resource at a time

Thousands of resources on small devices are terribly unwieldy.  An option to see ONLY downloaded resources would be really helpful.

Also, it would be nice if resource sets such as the newly available Gary Everett Study Notes would open to the proper passage when Bible reference is changed.  e.g., change resource from Matthew notes to Genesis notes when navigating from Matthew passage to Genesis passage.  Either that or consolidate entire resource set into one resource.

You can do this using the "local:" filter in the library. (Note the ":" after "local" is required)

Agreed - this has been requested before (see http://community.logos.com/forums/t/43649.aspx) for an example) but I don't recall seeing any response from Logos on this one.

Ditto!!  As it is I only use the single volume commentary's on my tablet for this very reason.  I would love to be able to use Barne's Notes easily.

The ability to increase the font size of community notes. Some phones can do this, my Toshiba Thrive cannot. Give us a slider please.

    Hi Richard,

Instead of creating a new forum wish list thread, please add your entries to UserVoice.  Please see http://community.logos.com/forums/p/65558/458190.aspx#458190 .

Richard, do you know you can touch the beginning of the resource title of either panel (The New international Version (1984) in your screenshot) to switch resources?  In the same way, you can touch the verse (Mark 3 in your screenshot) to change the reference.  This allows faster switching without opening the sidebar, and with abbreviated book titles, it's quite quick.

    1. Tap resource title.

    2. Type NIV84, or simply NIV if you have one of those android keyboards that makes typing digits awkward. Scrolling is not recommended.

    3. Tap the book.

    1) Ideally, "support" storing resources on the external SD storage.  The workarounds using mount apps are not ideal.  This would permit me to download all my resources on my tablet.

    2) Also, allow us to define mobile download sets based on our collections.   I might have my phone with just some core resources and my tablet set up with a deeper set of resources.  Having these sets defined as collections seems like a good match.

    For example

    Phone:

    Favorite Bibles
    Favorite Lexicons
    Favorite Commentary

    Tablet
    All Bibles
    All Lexicons
    All Commentaries.
    Devotionals.

    ...you get the idea.

    3) Download on demand/Expire when unused.  An automated mode that installs resources as I use them.   After a user defined period(could be days or months), they automatically become uninstalled.  Some resources could be defined as "core" and will never be uninstalled.
