How about gift cards in various amounts or even for base packages? Like a "Leader's Library" card for a pastor's Christmas gift or something.
Thomas,
Right now you can call Logos and buy credit towards someone else's account if you know their Logos ID. (They may be able to look up if you have name and address - don't know if they will though...)
Then you can issue a card saying, "Hey here's a gift of $x just call and talk to sales about it."
Not quite the same, I know. But it's a work around. :-)
... or you can purchase a Visa Gift card with directions on how it is intended to be spent. Of course, they do not need to follow your request, but it is one way to give a gift of cash for use on LOGOS.

For international users it would be great if this could be done on-line. If people then ask 'What should I get you for your birthday (etc)' you can direct them to the gift card page, along with your logos id. I wouldn't want to answer someone who asked me that right now by saying well call this international number and have them add some money to my account.... doesn't quite have the same 'ring' to it as, I'd love a Logos gift card so I can get some books I really want to add to my electronic library or there's a book colleciton that's being released soon that you could help me get by buying me a gift card.
What would then be really great, particulary for those in ministry in small churches or involved in ministry work is if they could have a link on their blog page that someone who wants to bless them could click and it would simply take them to a web page where they could purchase a 'gift card' for that person without even knowing their logos id because that would be taken care of as part of the link
Gift cards would make it sooo much easier for my wife to buy me birthday and Christmas presents [;)]
Andrew, International or not you've spelled out the perfect reasons for this!
What about if someone wants to buy me a specific resource. Could they call up a Logos rep, give them my Logos ID, and buy just that specific resource?
That would be a nice gift. Wake up, load Logos, and find it downloading new resources!
Yes. I've done it before.
I really don't understand why this is so hard to do... It seems like a no-brainer to me. A gift card that used exclusively at Logos seems so much better than any of the other "work arounds". And Andrew's suggestions are brilliant! Why can't Logos make this a reality???? I don't believe I have even seen any official response to this at all - and there is obviously A LOT of interest.. It would certainly make my family's Christmas shopping much easier.
Welcome to the forums.

I've seen several -- including one from Bob Pritchett (the CEO) two or three years ago saying (roughly) that it's planned, but he couldn't guarantee it would be ready in time for Christmas. That Christmas.[:D]
I guess it's turned out to be harder to implement than expected. Remember: a) there's money and credit cards involved, so the transfer has to be absolutely secure, and b) your Logos account is involved, which you probably also want secure, at least if the giver is outside your immediate family. Plus the system needs to interact with all sorts of other Logos systems, first and foremost their own bookkeeping. I'm guessing that's probably an awful lot of code to write.
Also, as long as the gift card is unused, you probably want the money to be still yours, should Logos go bankrupt. That requires that it's kept very very separate from other payments, and may well require quite a bit of legal work to be done beforehand.

I know that several family members have asked what I might want for Christmas. I told my wife to pass along that I wanted to upgrade base packages. When she asked how gift cards could be purchased, I told her they could not… Apparently they have gone in a different direction because they could not purchase a card. Grr. [:S]
Why not point them to your wishlist? Make a category, say "Christmas" and let them choose what they desire or could afford. http://www.logos.com/users/lynden. Here is mine. [;)]
The url is found in your profile under the public tab. You can access it by going here. https://www.logos.com/user/edit.
An alternative to a gift card is to get one of those Visa debit cards that you see in various stores.
Also, couldn't someone just call up Logos and say "I would like to purchase this or that for a user", give Logos the user's email address and name, and use the gifter's CC?

If you send people your Logos sales rep's information they can call him or her and they can buy you either resources directly, or they can buy you credit directly, which you can then use to purchase.
There is just no online way to do it yet (the gift cards, that is... resources can be bought online for another user using the Public Wish Lists as mentioned above).
That is good to know. [:)]
This is a great source of revenue for Logos. As a pastor I never know what to say for family and friends. It's easy to say "E-books, can always use logos books". The could just purchase a cedit and have the code emailed to the recipient. Chip Northup, your Mother Louise purchased you $50 in Logos Books. Use Coupon Code J5329HV4! Happy Birthday from Logos and Louise. Man, you get a few of those throughout the year and pastor appreciation and you can get some good books!
I make a motion we make coupon codes for pastors, professors, and seminarians. (am I a member and do we use Robert's Rules for this forum?) [;)]

Yes, you are a member (Welcome.) No, we don't use Robert's but I second your motion anyway. [8-|]

I like it!
Actually, it is not really that difficult to setup. There are 3rd party vendors that can even do it for you. I would assume the hold up has more to do with costs than feasibility.
Giftcards would be wonderful for Faithlife to have.
