Community Notes

Mr. Simple

I was reading in my ESV Bible and clicked on a flag which was a community note.

I do not know how that works. Are these notes that anyone can add? How is it that my ESV was linked to that resource?

Is there a way to control/manage those tags in my resource?

How do I add one?

Basically can someone point me to an overview of the purpose/structure of that function?

Larry, Community Notes come out of the Faithlife site. They are controlled with the Visual Filters menu (the three circle icon, look for the section titled Community Notes). The idea is that you can join a Faithlife Group and share highlights with others in that group, and they with you. Hollow green markers signify others' notes. Solid ones are yours.

On the right click menu in a Bible (or another resource) you'll see an option to add a community note.

Turn the feature off on the menu I mentioned if you find them not to your taste.

Did I join a faithlife group without realizing it? Just recently I added a group for OT Quotes in NT to get access to a document.

I turned off information via the filter for now.

Yes you did. Your official membership card, decoder ring, and statement of monthly dues will be along shortly. (Just kidding.)

You can 'unjoin' the group if you want.

Peace, Larry! *smile* I also belong to that group but have never seen a Community Note from anyone in the Group. Notes from Intertexuality do show up in my Biblical readings which pleases me immensely.

So, am a wee bit curious.... Do you remember which ESV reference it was that you discovered a Community Note from that group?

Thank you, Larry! That comment shows up in all of my New Testaments of which I have many! I just looked at our FaithLife Group membership, and David is a member of our group..

Personally I haven't made many "comments" in my various groups (marked in Scripture comments, although I have commented in my groups)

I guess I could make a comment in my ESV for example that would show up in yours ..... because we are both members of the same group, eh?!!!
