By mistake I searched the SBL GNT for the phrase "all things" [see attachment] and amazingly got results [based on the underlying Greek text]. How does this work? Is it related to CLAUSE SEARCH [though I searched under BIBLE SEARCH]?

I note that this works for many English words - but that the results are not quite as complete as the ROOT search [done in SBL].
It's pretty impressive that you can search for the word "good" and get different form of the GREEK words for good [see attachment]

Yes, Milford. It's amazing how a "mistake" can yield results.
I tried this method with the word "love" and found that Logos 5 gave me results with the various forms of the Greek words for love. [It was very easy to see the interaction of these words in John 21 from this search.]
I'm guessing, Graham, that Logos has somehow embedded the ENGLISH text in with SBL [like they have done with the CLAUSE SEARCH feature].

You must be right - note that if you change the search fields to "Surface Text" instead of "All Bible Text" you don't get any hits against English words
i believe this feature is related to the SBL Greek-Englsh Interlinear. I tried searching the LHI [the Lexham Hebrew Interlinear] and some similar things happened [see attachment] - but not quite as impressive as with the SBL.

Bill, I really like your "finished product," and could find that useful for myself in the future. I don't understand how you can get both LHI and The New King James Version in separate columns on your rtf document??? Is that part of your search or do you add the corresponding NKJV verses to the LHI document.

I think Bill is using the "Add Versions" option you get in "Verses" mode
Yes, Graham is correct - I simply added that version to the results.
But I have noticed that LHI does give some great results. For example, I searched the Psalms for the idea of THE GOODNESS OF GOD using good AND (God, LORD, YAHWEH) in the search box for LHI and I got 42 "good" results.

You may know this, Milford, - but you can print the results of searches like this [as I did in the attachment]. I think this is a great feature that Logos has made possible.
This method also works for the LEXHAM GREEK-ENGLISH INTERLINEAR SEPTUAGINT. I have attached a search I did for LOVE YOUR WIFE in the LXX [using love AND wife in the search box].

The Lexham resources have a Lexical Value and Literal Translation search fields. Choose the Lexical Value and results area close match for the Gloss Text you found in SBLGNT and NA27. Obviously the SBL GNT editions have a slightly different Greek base to the NA27, so results will differ. But LGNTI:SBL (used in Clause search) with Lexical Value gives the same results as SBLGNT with its Gloss Text.
The advantage of the LGNTI:SBL is that you can view the Lexical Values, being an Interlinear. But I use Literal Translation because it is context sensitive rather than a dictionary/lexicon meaning.
I don't remember George being averse to a literal translation. So, that's probably ok. I wonder what the semantic argument would be between a literal translation and a more readable one. Kind of interesting issue.
