What are the best resources for Old Testiment and New Testiment?

I purchased Logos 5 bronze for personal development and to understand the scriptures better. I'm looking for your opinion on what lexicon or resources are the best, independently in the Old Testament and New Testament, for defining words or giving a more complete meaning of the Greek and Hebrew text and why you feel it's the best. Thanks for your opinion and help.

What people mean by "best" varies, but the standard lexical resource is the latest edition of the the Bauer lexicon, commonly known by the initials of its editors as "BDAG". That is not included in Bronze [:(]. Probably the best all around lexicon for Greek in Bronze is the Spicq, for what Spicq covers.

For Old Testament, the comparable lexicon would be "HALOT", which is also not included in Bronze. The Condensed version of it is, as well as the older BDB and the Westermann....

But as powerful of a tool Logos is, and as good as these resources are, do not fool yourself. Just clicking an english word to get the "definition" is not really studying it in the original languages.

If you are interested in the theological meaning at the university level |(well past your high school) of the most important--but not all!-words in the OT and NT , their varying usage depending on chronology, religion and their statistics then download TLOT for the OT and TDNT for the NT. Make sure you have at least one Interlinear Bible like ESV and click on all blank squares to show lemmas. Merry Christmas !

My favorite Logos feature is visual filter highlighting so can "see" range of verbal expression in a passage.

English is not Greek and both are not Hebrew nor Aramaic. The Hebrew alphabet is consonant letters; word formation is a bit different. The Greek verbal system is more expressive than English.

Yep, TDNT is awesome. You can learn a tremendous amount just by looking at the citations showing common usage of words.

If you are not interested in in-depth etymologies in numerous languages, there is also an abridged version that still contains most of the useful stuff.
