Would like shortcut icons to bibles

I don't think I've seen this request before.

I would like to be able to have several shortcut icons that would directly open the Logos app to a particular Bible version. E.g. Clicking on one icon would open to the NLT, clicking to another icon would open to the ESV, etc. and I would like each occurrence to open where it was when it was closed.

i know that there are separate apps available for many translations, but at $12 to $20 each, it can get really pricey, and I already have these Bibles in Logos, but getting to different translations quickly in the Logos app is not quick nor easy. In the desktop program, I can place a button on the tool bar and it makes this quick and easy. I would really like something like that inside the app, or a way to open the app directly to one of several translations using separate icons.

Hi John,

Thanks for using Logos Bible Software. Obviously we weren't able to fit everything in the desktop app into the mobile versions but I think I can provide a small work-around for you that may get you something smilar to what you want. You can place favorites in areas in books and then access them from the Star (found by tapping the resource page) or from the tools menu (found by tapping the magnifying glass on the home page and swiping until you get to the Tools section).

You create favorites by swiping up on a resource, and tapping "Add Favorites" The favorite will be attached to the location you are in the resource. If you navigate elsewhere in the resource you will need to add a new favorite in order to return to the new location, otherwise when you go to the favorite it will always take you to the same location. From what I hear you want, however, it may be enough to just navigate to anywhere in the resource for quick access.

Hi tommy, I know next to nothing about iOS programming. I'm guessing to do what John would like requires the use of command line parameters. Is this an option with iOS apps?

There isn't a command bar in the iOS version so there is no way to execute commands (eg. Open ESV to John 1:1)

Hi Tommy, thanks for the reply. I wasn't meaning a command bar in app, but a command line parameter that would attach to the application being launched, maybe a startup switch is a better way of putting what I was asking about. As an example when you start MS Word (in windows at least) rather than just using the standard shortcut, you can make a modified one to launch word and open a specific document e.g

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe" c:\filename1.doc

I can't see this being too practical for iOS in terms of setting up multiple launch icons, as I am not sure how the user would do that, so it's just more of a general interest question.

I see what you mean. I know nothing about programming let alone iOS programming but I don't know if that is a possibility.
