Hi. I think I'm on the verge of springing for the Verbum Foundations package; however, I'm troubled by one thing. The Verbum package contains the Early Church Fathers Catholic Edition set, which, as it says on the tin:
"The Early Church Fathers comes in two versions, Protestant and Catholic. Simply put, the difference is that the Protestant edition contains additional front matter written at a later date. There is no difference in the actual ECF text."
The Catholic package, bought separately, actually costs MORE than the Protestant package ($256.95 for the Catholic vs. $249.95 for the Protestant) -- for admittedly less stuff. I have been using the Protestant editions for years, as a Protestant. I find the commentary is often helpful and illuminating even for Catholics (at the very least, it's amusing). I would much prefer to have it than a copy that's been excised to avoid offending my Catholic sensibilities.
