HCSB
I have two different editions of the Holman Christian Standard Bible on my Kindle. Both of them have a copyright date of 2010. Here is a screen shot of one of them - the other is like it;
The date of my HCSB in LOGOS is "2002, 2003". Has this Bible been updated without our seeing it in LOGOS?

Should we expect to see this update in LOGOS - or is mostly editorial changes with significant changes?

Here's what I found on the wikipedia:
The new update to the HCSB is available now in electronic form for WORDsearch and Bible Explorer software.[5] Though largely a minor update, one significant change is that the tetragrammaton is transliterated "Yahweh" in 495 places. In the first edition, the transliteration is only found in 78 places.[6]
(The tetragrammaton appears in over 6,800 places in the Hebrew Bible.)
Text editions are expected to begin rolling out February 2010 with the HCSB Study Bible scheduled for October 2010.[7]Not earthshaking. I would think the new edition will be coming to Logos, perhaps soon.

I would hope so, especially since the wikipedia references indicated that the updated electronic version for WordSearch was available in 2009. Does WordSearch have any exclusivity or preferential contracts with B&H Publishing?

Maybe they do. Or maybe they are more aggressive in keeping up?? I hate to be treated like the unwanted child. [:'(]

FYI, Amazon sent me an e-mail about the Kindle version:
"Greetings from Amazon.com.
We're writing about your past Kindle purchase of The Holy
Bible: HCSB Digital Text Edition by B&H Publishing Group. The version you
received contained some errors that have been corrected.
An updated version of The Holy Bible: HCSB
Digital Text Edition (ASIN:B0045U9UES) is now available. Its
important to note that when we send you the updated version, you will no longer
be able to view any highlights, bookmarks, and notes made in your current
version and your furthest reading location will be lost."I was then given a positive option to request the new version. The new version then replaced the older one on my Kindle.

That is what got me started. I had two versions on my Kindle - one from Holman and one from B&H. The e-mail wanted to update one, the other was already updated. Both are now updated - and I wrote my original post after checking the dates on the two Kindle versions and the LOGOS version.

I certainly do not have any inside information but WordSearch does have a HCSB Reverse Interlinear (the only reverse interlinear that they offer) and the HCSB Study Bible.
Also the update to the HCSB text was handled in a very odd fashion. Beside the fact that it was released electronically for only one program (and before it was available in print), it was released in incremental updates in print. The HSCB Apologetics Study Bible for Students was released in January with partially revised text. The HCSB Minister's Bible was released in June with additional revisions and the HCSB Study Bible was released in October with the final revisions.
I wrote a bit about this on my blog if you want to read more.

Jeff, thanks for the information. Perhaps Logos and Holman are working on releasing the HSCB Study Bible in Logos format (a good idea) and will release the updated text at the same time.

See http://bit.ly/hcsbstudybible for a request for the HCSB Study Bible for LOGOS. I had no idea at the time that it also included an updated version of the HCSB text. I use the on-line version and purchased a paper copy when it was released.

I do not believe that it is so much exclusive as it is preferential. In so much that WORDsearch produces Bible Navigator for Lifeway (formally The Sunday School Board), who owns B&H.
So if they want one of their resources in their software, it becomes available in WS.

Whew! I feel so much better. Now if we can get the HCSB Study Bible in Logos I'll be very happy.

Wordsearch, QuickVerse, Broadman and Hollman, Lifeway are all part of the Southern Baptist Convention.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they are keeping a tighter reign on things to help support their own investments? LaRosa, can you maybe fill us in some? )0 -
I really don't know anything about B&H's relationships with other Bible software platforms. As a Logos user, I wouldn't mind seeing RI data for the HCSB & the HCSB Study Bible in Logos.

A strategy that worked so well for Zondervan for so long.
