Introductions to Books of the Bible

I am curious... in my print NLT Bible I have some nice introductions to each of the books of the Bible which often serve as concise resources and are simply a valuable part of the translation. Are these in Logos somewhere? If so, how do I load them or toggle their display?

Introductions are supplementary to the text of the Bible (just like maps,etc) and would be found in a separate resource (like the NLT Study Bible Notes). What kind of NLT Bible do you have?

I have the NLT Study Bible now that I think of it. I guess this is not included in L4 Platinum though... unless it is still forthcoming. How do I access this kind of supplementary data that does exist?

A Bible Handbook would have that sort of intro and summary for each book of the Bible; for example, the Holman Bible Handbook, which is included in L4 Platinum. So you should have that already.

The NLT Study Bible (which includes the notes and book introductions) is available for purchase as a separate product (Todd referred to it above, and I've repeated the link here). But it comes as a 3.0 CD-ROM only, so you'd have to wait for it in the mail and would have to have (or reinstall) Logos 3 on your computer in order to install it, but then it should work fine in L4.

A book that's in pre-pub which will also be an excellent resource once it's available is How to Read the Bible Book by Book by Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart. It has general overviews and summaries of each book of the Bible.

No,
it looks like the NLT Study Bible Notes must be purchased through the
NLT Study Bible package. There are also many other study bibles
available for Logos that are included in inexpensive packages (usually
from Nelson): The MacArthur Study Bible, Nelson Study Bible, The
Reformation Study Bible, ESV Study Bible Notes, and more.

How do I access this kind of
supplementary data that does exist?

There are a couple of specialized study bibles included with Platinum that do have book introductions: The Complete Word Study Bible: King James Version, and the Apologetics Study Bible. But those introductions are especially brief.

If it's book introductions you want, then I would start with the Holman Bible Handbook (included in Platinum). All the commentaries in Platinum will have book introductions, too, and you will find much more depth (and length) by picking one of those.

I pick Yes. I think this would be very helpful. Obviously part of the power of a passage guide is the quick access to the contents of commentaries, and this would be a great way to know which commentaries have this kind of information included and a quick method of accessing it.

Thanks, Damian. That's bizarre. I copied and pasted the titles directly from the Logos website and was surprised to find the link pasted in.
