Reverting to older version (iPad)

Dear Logos folks,

Is there a way you could put the newest version before the November 14th update on the Apple App Store so that those who have updated and are regretting it (or have updated and now can't use the new software due to legacy issues) can go back to the way it was before?

I don't want to be a bother but I really despise the new font. Even more so, I despise the fact that one of the customizable hallmarks of the software in my opinion (the ability to choose from several fonts) was totally obliterated (which, when it comes to e-reading, font choices at all are a luxury, and the Logos choices for the iPad app had been the most luxurious I had found in any e-reading app). It's ok for small passage reading, but for extended reading the font is a strain on my eyes, and far different from the one I had grown accustomed to in the previous version (Palatino). I really do not understand why the font choices were removed, truetype fonts are incredibly small filetypes and the code was already included in the app, why take away an option from users that makes the app less feature rich? This new release might be a step forward in some areas, but a step backward in others, and the backwards steps are glaring.

As I understand it, after you've updated an app through the Apple App Store, there is no way to revert back to the original app you had installed unless you can find it in the "Mobile Applications" in the iTunes directory or if you have a Time Machine backup. I do not have either. If it is possible for you to share the .ipa app of the most recent version before the latest release of 3.1.1, I would much appreciate it. Thanks.

know you addressed the Logos Folks, but I thought I would say how I reverted
back to the previous version.

This only works if
you have not already synced the ipad to the desktop. I deleted the latest
version on my ipad. Then I started iTunes and connected the iPad to the
computer. Next, I made sure the Logos app was checked. The I selected "Apply" and when the iPad synced to the desktop, the previous version was
then synced to the iPad.

If you have already synced the iPad to the computer using iTunes,
then the previous version is placed in the Recycle Bin. If you find it there,
you can use the .ipa file to put the previous version back on your computer. It
has been awhile since I have done this so I am not sure at the moment exactly how
I did it. Someone else may know the steps.

The previous default font was more readable than the new one, but I just don't recall ever having a choice like you do in Kindle.

Hi Jonathan,

Logos has never offered multiple font choices on either iPad or Android devices. You can change the font size, but not the font itself. There is a case written up to add the old font back so that customers can choose between the old and new font, and this would be a first for us.

So Logos, how about letting us have a font choice please? It only need be a small subset I think, not the whole set. At least current and old one would be welcome please.

Well, no. Thats not what he said. And in the other thread I just found, it says The developers where looking at adding a choice. I don't find "looking at" gives the answer I wish, but I guess its a start.

I'd have to say, in other reading apps, a smooth endless scrolling of pages, and two-finger resizing at any moment is what I've come to expect from iPad apps. This is mYbe the one area where the current app feels to be lacking in my view. The two-finger line scroll is still a welcome improvement.

I have written up a case for this and have personally talked with the lead developer of iOS apps repeatedly about the importance of offering the old font as a choice. I have been a strong critic of the new font from day one, long before it was released. Unfortunately, we don't have an army of 50,000 (or 50) developers on our mobile team so I apologize if it takes us a bit to add the old font back in.

Do the other reading apps you refer to offer the functionality of Logos? We desire to offer the best Bible study software available and if we fall short when compared with other reading apps, you might consider whether those other apps support all of the features Logos offers. Still, I have already written cases up for smooth scrolling (long ago) and will add another for two finger resizing. Can you recommend apps that support those features so I have something to compare with? Thanks for you input!

I'm using Logos on the New iPad, and there wasn't such a choice, although the font in the older version was something similar to Palatino. I'm sure many other ereaders do have such a choice.

Aaron - Kevin is a Logos employee, and indeed has used the app. I am a beta tester, and have been doing so for more than a year. I can tell you that in that time, the ability to select a typeface has not been a feature.

There isn't a supported way to do this, but it is possible. You will have to find someone with the old version and acquire it. Apple desires apps to be installed ONLY from the App Store... Logos isn't really supposed to offer apps outside of the App Store ecosystem.
