I just watched the video on maps. it said to zoom in using the scroll wheel. I am using a laptop that doesn't have a scroll wheel. Is there another way?
If you are on a PC your laptop trackpad should have a setting to scroll without a scroll wheel. If you are on a MAC you can use two finger pinch.
OK. found that. however, when I copy, it copies the entire, larger map. I only want it to copy a smaller portion that I zoom in on.
are you on a MAC or PC?
You may have to zoom the map the way you want and then do a screen snip to get a pic of that into another program.
pc
I did the screen capture. It is a work around in that in includes all the screen. I'd like to capture just the map.
In Windows:
Alt + PrtSc to capture the window. Paste into IrfanView, outline and capture the area of interest with Ctrl+Y
IrfanView?
IrfanView: http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm
Also for any Civil War a-fish-ionados (no a-hunter-ionados), IrfanView does the Library of Congress jpeg2000 views( http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/collections/civil_war_maps/subject.html ) for those really massive maps that need downsizing.
There's a screen snip tool in Vista, win 7, & win 8. You can drag a border around just the area of your screen you want to capture. Then name and save it anywhere in your file structure. It also copies to the clipboard so you can just paste it into any document without even saving it.
Or in Biblical Places (Biblical Facts in L5) you can use the reading view (F11), zoom and pan to what you want and then do a screen capture with PrnScrn to capture the map with no borders.
