When I Right-click on "Nazareth" in Lk 1:26 (NASB) the menu fails to show a "place" option. Weird, because when I do the same thing with "Galilee" in the same verse, "place" does appear as a menu option. Is this a bug?
This is weird, but it seems consistent with the way they do things elsewhere. If you right click on "city" you will find it has the option for Place "Nazareth" -- so the noun city is the place, whereas Nazareth is just the name describing the city. However in the case of Galilee, there is no other noun to attach the "Place" tag to, so it gets attached to the name Galilee. This is now how I'd expect it to work, but I've seen evidence in other forum threads that this is how they do it. And perhaps they are not always consistent about it.
Rosie, thanks for your reply. It works in mine as you suggested by right-clicking on "city". However, this is definitely not what they should be doing. The Greek word for Nazareth is in fact also noun. I don't know how they determine which nouns get tagged as places, but it does not make sense to me that they would tag "city" as "Nazareth" and not the actual word Nazareth. Thanks again for your comment.
If there are any Logos staff viewing this it should definitely be classified as a bug.
Peace and Joy and Happy New Year! *smile*
I'd call that a "bug," ... *smile*
Yes, this is a bug: the word Ναζαρὲθ should be annotated as a name for the place Nazareth. I'll file a bug report.
Thanks, Sean! If I find more of them is this the right place to make them known?
Posting a forum thread with a clear title (as you did) is fine. Alternatively, you can also send email to data@logos.com (which ensures it will eventually get seen, though it doesn't have the advantage of alerting other forum users).
Hi all
Just to note that this was previously flagged and discussed at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/60735/431084.aspx#431084
