Is there a good free ( or really cheap ) word processor out there for Mac that will save or export in .docx format?
Blessings & Peace,
Tim
NeoOffice will, and BEAN will as well. both are free. Bean is very fast and great little WP. http://www.bean-osx.com/Bean.html http://www.neooffice.org/
LibreOffice is free that can create .docx files => https://www.libreoffice.org/
Complex Text Layout has optional settings, which are useful for Hebrew => How to copy and paste passages to LibreOffice Writer and => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/44035/327903.aspx#327903

KS4J,
Is Libre what you use to make the .docx files for Personal Books? That is what I am looking for.
Blessings,
Hi Dan,
BEAN will not do footnotes if I remember right.
NeoOffice is on my list if I have to pay for the program. I was at their website and noticed they charge a fee to download the most up to date version. I guess I could download the older version.
I want to make some personal books and need a way to create .docx files.
NeoOffice is on my list
Unless it's been very much improved, do not choose NeoOffice. I made that mistake a year or two ago. LibreOffice is essentially the exact same program, only much better adapted to Mac, with far fewer bugs, and much better documentation.

Thread => Personal Book software alternative to Microsoft Word includes reply about LibreOffice being used tor Personal Books on OS X. An internet search for:
site:community.logos.com libreoffice personal books
finds many Logos forum threads about LibreOffice and Personal Books.
Primarily have used Word 2010 on Windows 7 for Personal Book creation: e.g. => . After building book in Logos on Windows, have copied *.lbspbb to Mac and used scan command.
LibreOffice on OS X is a free alternative to Microsoft Office. For Hebrew editing on OS X, LibreOffice is more capable than Word 2011. Mellel is a commercial product that handles Hebrew on OS X.
Quick question: is there any Mac program that will open publisher files (*.pub)? If not, I have a lot of office work to do in my recent change-over from PC to Mac.
Not that I am aware of. Sorry. [:S]
Decided to give LibreOffice a try and worked with it last evening for a while. Created a few test .docx files to make into PB's. Seemed to work really well. I think I will stick with it unless I run into problems with it.
Dan, I gave Bean a test drive and it is a nice little WP, I am going to hang onto it and use it for things that don't need a TOC or footnotes.
Thanks everyone for your help!
Peace be with you,
