Anthony,
I had the same problem, however, when I changed my prefered bible to ESV, the BSL worked ok.

This workround was discussed at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/62851/447196.aspx#447196 as a Beta issue. Are you running the beta software?
I ask because I note that Anthony is running 5.0a SR3 and trying to avoid confusion.

Hi Anthony
Your log file has the following entry:
[364:3079:1022861563325:FATAL:/Volumes/Pasupoto/Development/chromium/chromium/src/app/resource_bundle_posix.cc(86)] Check failed: !resources_file_path.empty(). chrome.pak not found
suggesting that Logos was trying to use a file which doesn't exist.
I don't know enough about Mac software to comment on this but thought it might be useful in trying to track this down

This isn't a 'beta' issue. And changing denominations (to ESV) does fix it; I just refuse to change denominations.
I get the feeling I better plan on this not being fixed since they're concentrating on 'the beta'.
Just add it to the stack of known crash-events to avoid (on my PC).

DMB,
Tech. support has a copy of my crash log and is working on a fix for the stable version.

Graham,
Maybe it's time to separate bata, Mac, and windows like Logos 4.

Thanks for clarifying this - I had thought it was just a beta issue.

That's a long standing debate[:)]
Logos view on this - to the best of my knowledge - is that there are so many things which are common across the platforms (in terms of function and purpose) that it is best to treat everything together.
It does require a bit of discipline to ensure that platform-dependent issues are properly understood.
Of course, in the Logos 4 world, people answered Mac questions posted in the Mac forum from a Windows perspective and vice verse anyway[:)]

Hi Anthony,
From where are you accessing Bible Sense Lexicon? Are you launching it directly from Tools, or elsewhere?

Either way is ok with me.

Yesterday when i was talking with Logos support they discovered that though I had the latest version of L.5 my computers - plural - they were not downloading the latest version of BSL. No matter how they tried they could not get it to update correctly. Tech Support is working on the reason why ....
So, which version of BSL do you have - which build?Yours In Christ

I access it from the tools menu. I started Logos once with a blank layout and then tried to launch Bible Sense Lexicon and it opened with no problems.

So it is working fine now? Or are there steps you can take to consistently get Logos 5 to crash that involve opening the Bible Sense Lexicon in some way?

No. Every time i open logos with my layout and try to open BSL it crashes

Only when i sign in with blank layout does BSL open without any problems. That is not a viable solution

I was having this issue on my mac but now it seems to be working again. At least the last 3 days since I tried it again.

If after you open the BSL (after opening to a blank layout) and then navigate to a layout does it crash in that instance as well?

i tried to do what you said and now i can't even open Logos without it crashing whether or not BSL is open or not. Now I am in serious trouble, because my message is do this Sunday and I can't even open it without it crashing. Needless to say it was a bad suggestion!

Can you still open to a blank layout (sorry if that is what you were saying you can't do)? Can you work without BSL?

no i can't even open Logos without Logos crashing. Whether or not BSL is open during a blank layout and then opening a layout or opening BSL while a layout is open. It crashes always. there seems to be some incompatibility with BSL and the other books and tools that are open.

i finally figured out that i just needed to sign into Logos with a blank layout again and then reopen my layout. it is working( without BSL).

i changed my preferred Bible to ESV and it still crashes when i open BSL

Which version of BSL are you running? Go to Logos >>> About >>> and page down and you will see something like this:
Bible Sense Lexicon

Logos discovered mine is NOT downloading the latest version - appears stuck on this one (and yes we have downloaded the app several times, deleted all the BSL files and reloaded, et. al.)Yours In Christ

i checked and i have the same version you have. what are we to do?

what seems weird is that BSL will open and work fine if nothing else is open(blank layout). It seems this older version doesn't play well with other tools and books.

Contact Tech Support. While they were not able to find out why "on mine" this "old" version remains (note the old version is working on some machines) even though the "new" app was downloaded, etc. they are working on a solution .... Perhaps Tech Support analyzing "our" files (and the others) can find the common denominator. I know the developers are working on a solution ...
Are you by providence using a large monitor - I use a 55" Sony TV - just wondering ... if this is the culprit ....Yours In Christ

no. I am working on a 15" macbook pro retina

Ok, well at least wecan eleminate one possibility. Tech support is working on it. .. Please letthem know you are having the problem .... They may be able to repair it quickly ...then again it may be like mineand take ...well some time....

i contacted Tech Support and they pulled my log files and are investigating. My installation seems to be acting weird. We deleted a couple of books i had open and then BSL opened fine without crashing. then we opened it again without those resources and it crashed. It is not consistent and so it will probably be a challenge. the BSL is a really neat tool and i hope they can iron out the wrinkles so we can start using it. as it was a selling point to getting LOGOS 5

Sounds like they did the 'app' same thing with yours as they did with mine. I am sure they will get it ironed out - it is just going to take some time ... but I am contacting them again next week and at least once a week to insure things are followed up on - I as you like desire to use the BSL - but I also have BW (they have it in Mac too), it never crashes, it is faster in the languages, so ....
