Compare Versions help

In Logos 4 Mac version, when i enter a reference and begin to browse my tools in the "passage guide" i like to use the 'compare versions' tool--I understand the river and how it reflects the comparison, but to the left of the river the translations used are placed in a seemingly random way...one in the middle high, one mid-left low, one right high, and so on. There must be a reason, but none of the training tools i've searched explain it to me, and i can't figure it out. any help here? Thanks!

I have to complement Milford for at least find the previous mystified user.

I know Milford's going to knock me over the head, but I'm the type of person that really gets peaved if the traffic lights violate statistical probabilities (all red when I seem to arrive).

That's why I imagine the typical Logos car. Instead of a speedometer with 'numbers', instead there's two words: 'more' and 'less'. If you're driving your Logos car along, sometimes 'more' shows. Other times 'less'. Many Logos car drivers have wondered why 'more' or 'less'. The designers have explained over and over that it's REALLY complicated. That's why 'more' or 'less' is so much easier to use.

Ok, Milford. I'm ready.

Denise! Blessings! I'm probably for sure NOT the guy to help you since I sympathise greatly with the designers. Was it Canadian Marshall McLuhan who said, "Yes! Less is more!" ???

Actually, I made that up. Of course! However, all these terms - formal equivalence - dynamic equivalence - and many others - all so necessary for proper translation of God's Holy Word - are so imprecise! Yet, that's the way we need to do it!

Then, the Beauty of it all! *smile* Through the Holy Spirit, God's Word Becomes Right On! Right On! For me! Emmanuel! God is With Us!
