Help me add a Bible Word study tool to iOS (iPad)
I use the default iOS Bible Word Study tool all the time. It is by far my favourite feature of the Logos app. But, the default tool uses the KJV 1900 as it's source. Is it possible to use a different source? Or are their identical tools using a different source?
Thanks!

I believe if you invoke BWS from within a Bible, that translation will be used.
If you open the guide from the menus it will use your preferred Bible.
does this match what you are seeing?

What base package (if any) do you own?

Thanks Graham.
It partly matches what I'm seeing. Invoking BWS from within a Bible does use the translation of that Bible (thank you, thank you, thank you!), but the system is not using my preferred Bible as a default. Even resetting the app, the default is always KJV 1900 (instead of HCSB). Is it my choice of HCSB that's causing the problem?
Alabama24 - I haven't purchased any packages yet. It's still just the free platform. I'd be happy to purchase something to make BWS even better.

Just to check
When you look at the ipad app settings you see HCSB as "preferred". Mine is NRSV as shown below:

I'm not sure whether purchasing anything is required to address this - I don't track closely enough what you can / can't do with the free package. I hope someone will be able to clarify this.

Yes, that is what I see. HCSB for the Preferred Bible on that screen.
Try setting HCSB as your Preferred Bible. Does the same happen to you?
Maybe the HCSB isn't permitted as a source in the Bible Word study tool.0 -

Yes - if I set the HCSB as my preferred Bible I get what you are seeing

It looks like it is more general than that - it appears that the source in the BWS needs to have a reverse interlinear capability (and the HCSB doesn't) which is reasonable
Sorry, I should have realised that this was the issue earlier

Since I know you are new, let me explain what Graham said just a bit more... To use the Bible Word Study tool, your app must know what ORIGINAL language word(s) are the basis for the English ones. This requires a tool known as a reverse interlinear. As you can imagine, it is a long and expensive project to undertake. Just try doing a paragraph by yourself! [:)]
For that reason, only some translations have reverse interlinear's attached to them, and most require a purchase (this is generally done with a "base package"). You could try changing to the Lexham or ESV to see if any other RI's were thrown in for free. It's hard for Graham and I to know since we both already have large packages with Logos.

I think LEB (Lexham) and KJV may be the only ones with the Reverse Interlinear data in the free version. My mom has the free version, and after trying different Bibles on her iPad, I ended up recommending that she use the LEB for word studies. (She lives in another state, so I can't easily confirm.)
