Logos 5 Crash - Mac

Ok, I upgraded to Logos 5.

Pros - (so-far):

1. More resources, but indexed faster then L.4

2. New font - I like

3. I haven't gotten inside of it enough to state other pros.

Cons - (so far):

1. I open Logos 5. It crashes and I receive error screen with prompt to reopen. Then I "reopen" Logos 5 and it works. This happens every time I first attempt to open Logos 5? Any thoughts?

2. Crashes every time I attempt to open Bible Sense Lexicon.

Logs would help Logos analyze this problem.

The most convenient way to enable logging is to use the Applescript LogosLogging by KS4J. (Restart of Logos needed after enabling)

Then use Logos Log Scribe to create an archive of the logs on your desktop.

Use the paperclip on the message prep window to attach.

Thanks for the replies. Hebrew is easier than attaching a log. Why can't Logos put a tab in their program to do this?

Don't believe you used Logos Log Scribe to assemble the logs because your attachments are not in the format that app uses.

I cannot read logs, but there are several on the forums who can. One of them should be along soon to provide some insight.

Note, the logs (or whatever ...) I am submitting regard the Bible Sense Lexicon. The other error of shutting down when opening was fixed by deleting all my old "Layouts" and making a new one in L.5

I just tried it again - used what was described on Logos Support page and ended up with this:

The awesomium.log file has a fatal error about resource file path being empty. Since using stable Logos 5.0a SR-3, suggest sending an email to Logos Tech Support with reference to this thread => http://www.logos.com/contact

Resources should be part of application bundle. One idea is clicking Logos 5 order # => http://www.logos.com/user/orders then download Disk Image and replace Logos Bible Software 5 application.

Drag the Blue colored "app" to Applications Folder. On dock, can right click on icon, click Options => Show in Finder to verify shortcut goes to Applications folder.

Ok, looks like I did it correctly as the desktop App path goes to the Applications folder. Logos opens fine using the App. However, I still receive the same error using the Bible Sense Lexicon.

I sent an e-mail to Tech Support. Guess I will have to wait till Monday.

Also receiving a lot of spinning wheels (linked commentaries) - after L.4 stabilized never saw those - was hoping L.5 was better.

It may be simplistic approach, but try to restart computer and open L5 again. for me, I am able to use it now.

Ram, thanks, but it has been restarted about 20 times this morning ... but I can be happy because at least it opens. Just installed it on the MacBook Pro and L.5 will not even open -spins and shuts down in about a second.

Yes, I am working on it, but it will be a while..... I am reading the Logos help files instead of "really working." Will post them if I do not find a solution - as you said this is a completely different problem right now ....

Ok, I finally have the MacBook Pro opening L.5. It appears as if the L.4 update manager and download manger had to be deleted. It now opens.

However, it still has a similar problem . It crashes - completely closes - when opening the BSL tool.

Noticed LogosError.log has an encryption error and bibliography sync error. The Logos.log file does not have a crash.

Thanks. I am not sure what that means or what hope for a solution it gives. I know the results - Logos completely closes and I get a error log. Logos called it a crash. Apple states it was a Logos software issue.

Developers are suppose to have a solution Monday. We will see. If there is something I can do now, please let me know.

Sorry you are having problems on the Mac. So far I have not had a crash on my iMac once I did a clean install from the web vs. letting the automatic update from L4 do it.

Just bought the Logos 5 minimal crossgrade. Clicked the icon to boot up, and it crashed. Tried a few times, same result. Can't even boot up Logos 5 for the first time. Just a week ago, I clean installed Lion 10.7.4.

Try opening L.5 w/o a workspace. I had to delete all my L.4 workspaces and replace them with L.5 workspaces. Some here did not have too ...

If this continues then post a log. Someone here may be able to point out the problem. http://www.logos.com/support/logos5/mac/logging

Tech Support has discovered the problem pertaining to Bible Sense Lexicon and Community Notes. A fix is going to Beta in the next day or so. After insuring its stability it will be released to the rest of us.
