Is there any way to find out what place names are mentioned in a Bible book. What I'd like to do is, run a search for geographical places mentioned only in the Book of Acts.
Is it doable?
mm.
The easy/quick way is just to type in Acts in a passage guide but make sure everything's 'closed' except places.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Would you explain it a bit more.

Open Bible facts and type in the name it should show up.
I have a custom Passage Guide Template called Biblical Places that only has Biblical Places in it (accomplishes what DMB suggested):
Edit a regular Passage Guide and eliminate all by Biblical Places, rename it to save it.

Run a Passage Guide on the entire book of Acts:
Tools > Passage Guide
Type in "Acts"
Press Enter and make sure all the sections are collapsed...
(you do this by clicking on the section headers; this isn't strictly necessary but they'll get in your way and the PG will take longer to populate if you keep them all opened):
... except Biblical Places:
Click "show all" at the bottom there to expand the list and see the details for all of the places mentioned in Acts.
For any given place, click the "..." at the end of the list of verses next to it to see more verses where that place is mentioned (including outside of Acts).
Maybe I didn't make it clear. I know how to do the Bible Facts thing. This is what I want to do.
I want to find out every place name that only the Book of Acts has in it with out having to do a search for every place.
Too fast.
Let me try the two above suggestions.
Perfect thanks! Now that's what I was referring to. Thanks Rosie.
Maybe I didn't make it clear. I know how to do the Bible Facts thing. This is what I want to do. I want to find out every place name that only the Book of Acts has in it with out having to do a search for every place. So let's assume I don't know that the place name, Lydda, occurs in Acts (9.32). How would I find that out without having to read and them jot down all the place names manually? I want to search for every place name in Acts without reading every verse and writing down each name when I come upon it. Essentially it's like searching for the word "Ananias" only in Acts. Which gives me 12 results in 5 articles.------------------???? But how would I do this for all the place names.
So let's assume I don't know that the place name, Lydda, occurs in Acts (9.32).
What I'd like to do is, run a search for geographical places mentioned only in the Book of Acts.
First, look at:
1 Geographical Objects and Features1Outline of Subdomains A Universe, Creation (1.1–1.4) B Regions Above the Earth (1.5–1.16) C Regions Below the Surface of the Earth (1.17–1.25) D Heavenly Bodies (1.26–1.33) E Atmospheric Objects (1.34–1.38) F The Earth’s Surface (1.39–1.45) G Elevated Land Formations (1.46–1.50) H Depressions and Holes (1.51–1.59) I Land in Contrast With the Sea (1.60–1.68) J Bodies of Water (1.69–1.78) K Sociopolitical Areas (1.79–1.81) L Governmental Administrative Areas (1.82–1.85) M Areas Which Are Uninhabited or Only Sparsely Populated (1.86–1.87) N Population Centers (1.88–1.94) O Pastures and Cultivated Lands (1.95–1.98) P Thoroughfares: Roads, Streets, Paths, etc. (1.99–1.105)Johannes P. Louw and Eugene Albert Nida, Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament: Based on Semantic Domains, electronic ed. of the 2nd edition. (New York: United Bible Societies, 1996).
Second, decide what ranges you want to pick up in your search.
Third. Run Search on LN range in Acts.
That gives you all geographical places mentioned in Acts.
If you really mean mentioned only in Acts, convert the list to a Passage List. Repeat the process for the entire process for the entire Bible except for Acts. Then merge the lists to obtain the difference in the Acts list. Note this doesn't resolve the problem of different names for the same place.
First, look at: 1 Geographical Objects and Features1
1 Geographical Objects and Features1
What is needed here is:-
93 Names of Persons and PlacesOutline of Subdomains A Persons (93.1–93.388) B Places (93.389–93.615)
And the search term is
<LN 93.389-615>
