PBB

Does anyone know if the PBB will be a free update/upgrade in the Second Quarter. I already have it in L3. Thanks.

As far as I know, all the functionality you had in Logos3 should translate to automatic inclusion in a cross-grade, or upgrade. (No guarantees, if all you did was load the free engine.)

thanks Richard, I have the disc, paid close to $200.00 for it. I'm assuming then, that Logos will do a freebee when the license comes up for renewal again?

Aha! You're speaking of the PBB publisher (not the PBB reader). There is an annual subscription for this (stated here). My guess is that your PBB will continue to work with Logos3 as long as your subscription is valid. The new PBB publisher will likely be a new system altogether, since it will publish to the Logos native resource format (see here for a direct quote).
Of course, I'm guessing, and don't recall seeing anything specific from Logos, but that's how I'd expect the scenario to play out.

For me it is not so important if I have to pay for it again or not but WHEN it is ready to work. I would encourage Logos to include it in the first months of the new year [:)] I need my Czech Bibles in Logos 4. It really looks too long to wait till the second Q 2010. Please Logos...

So, if I want to create my own book, what software should I use? Personal Book Builder - Standard Edition? Could I build my own public domain books that Logos is selling?

For your own use, I think it is appropriate - for sharing publicly on the Logos site? I think not. Caveat: I am not a professionaly ethicist
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I'm resurrecting the PBB question as my license is about to expire. I was never a prolific PBB producer, but I have not made any since the advent of Logos 4, as I thought the effort better postponed until the new L4 version of PBB was released. My question is this.
Is there any benefit to renewing my license with the old version, or should I let it expire? As I don't intend to produce any new PBBs until then, I am thinking from a financial perspective with a view towards future discounts on the forthcoming version.

Don,
I suggest you contact Logos for that question. I'm not sure any of us here can speak with authority on the issue.

Hmmm...seems that PBB is delayed to 2011? I must confess, this is a bit frustrating. One of the reasons I decided to go with the upgrade was the promise of PBB being added in early 2010. Then it was bumped to Q3-Q4 of 2010...and now to 2011? Guess I'll need to reinstall version 3 so I can use those resources as needed.

Yes it's frustrating; but being a "glass half full" kind of guy I think of it like this: It must be getting better behind the scenes.

Any update on the status of the PBB module? Thanks!

I haven't heard any updates in a long time. I will ask.

We are actively working on it, but I can't promise a particular date yet.

Thanks for the update! I've used PBB consistently to share teaching materials with our (Logos enabled) ministry team, can't wait to be up to speed with L4!

Just hearing this is great encouragement Bob. Of course I volunteer to be in the know just in case you want to vent. :-p

Thanks for that Bob, it encourages me too. I was a little afraid after seeing this slip and slip that it was not going to happen and in particular that there was no incentive for Logos to complete this work. I feel reassured now.

Willing to see that. Can't image how useful and helpful it can be. It can only helps Logos goes stronger (I think it is the incentive).

Thank you for the confirmation, Bob. It does help to know that this important feature is in progress.

Ditto. Thanks, Bob. Count me in among the people eager for the beta when this will first be sprung on us. I hope it will be soon, but take your time to get it done well before releasing it.

I agree with Rosie 100% (on PBB, at least)
