ESV Faithlife Study Bible Within Logos 5
Is it possible to get the new Faithlife Study Bibles that correlate with different Bible translations, e.g. the ESV, within Logos 5?

Yes, once you have signed up to use the FSB it should appear as a resource in your library and you can open it and use it within Logos 5.
You can then - for example - open a Bible and the FSB and link them together as shown below (details about linking are at http://wiki.logos.com/Linking_Resources)
Is this what you are looking for or am I missing your point?

Thanks for the response Graham. Actually, in the Faithlife app, e.g. for the iPhone, Logos has available different versions of the FSB, with the quoted Bible text in the study notes themselves from the ESV, NKJV, etc. So, when you are reading the ESV, for example, you can use the ESV version of the study notes. This does not appear to be available within Logos 5, but only in the Faithlife app. I think this feature is very cool, and would be willing to pay for it in Logos 5, assuming it is not available.

I wasn't aware of this - and only find one copy of the Faithlife Study Bible in my Faithlife app.
Can you give some examples of where you find this and how you invoke the different versions?
Are you sure you aren't treating the text about the screen separator as part of the study notes as opposed to the Bible text itself?

I think this worked in the early days of FSB in the desktop app (or I just imagined that it did...), but someday got broken. You needn't invoke different versions, it just took the bolded text, which are actually snippets of bible verses, from the most prioritized bible if it was one of the list referred to on the FSB promo site.

If you go to the Faithlife blog there is a post by Jack Chambers on January 28 where he describes this feature. There are even links to the different translations, but when I put one in my cart it says I already own it. As they have already done the work on this, it would be great to implement it in Logos 5.

the point is that - to the best of my understanding - there are not several different FSB resources, but just one, with the referenced bible text snippets created dynamically based on your preferred selection.
Maybe there's an internal parameter that "got stuck" someplace and prevents the dynamic update. Logos needs to answer that one.

The way I read the blog all it is saying is you can get different translations added to your Faithlife package - it isn't clearly saying that these translations are then represented in the notes.
But I wasn't aware of the feature to which you and Mick are referring so I could easily be missing something[:)]

Steve et. al., when you open Faithlife Study Bible (FSB) in the Logos app, you will see a drop down menu a few buttons over from the reference you're at--it's labeled "Default" with a down arrow (or whatever translation you've currently chosen in the drop-down menu). (The "Default" is LEB.) You can change it to any of the supported translations that you already own, and the quoted text (the bold fragments from the Bible) will change to the translation you choose.
This feature is even more helpful when you link (under the down arrow by the book) the Bible you want to use with the FSB notes.
The supported translations are: LEB, ESV, NKJV, KJV 1900, NIV, NASB95, and NRSV.
Enjoy!

I am very new to all of this, if you will allow me to explain my situation, it may help someone with the reason for my issue. I purchased Logos 5 Starter about 3 days ago, I downloaded the Mac version and have been pleased so far. Previously, I had Ebible on a windows machine running libronix 3. I am not 100% sure if the ebible stuff is included in my library or not, I do not see anything that I previously had missing from my library.
Now to the problem, I do not see the option for default or to select anything. I have linked the resources and everything that I can tell from your pictures, but there is no drop down option.

Hi Adam - and welcome to hte forums.

Do you have the Faithlife Study Bible included in your layout? It is only this resource which has the "default" option

Looks like it might be a Mac thing:
My account + Verbum 5 + Mac = No drop down for translation in FSB.
My account + Verbum 5 + PC = Drop down for translation in FSB, as in screen shots.

Thanks, haven't put it on a pc yet. A couple of hours ago, I put the fsb app on my iPad and like the way the app works better than fsb inside logos app.

We have reproduced this problem on Mac and have filed a bug report.0 -

This issue should be fixed when Logos Bible Software 5.1, which is currently in beta testing, ships to the stable channel.
