In the next version, (if it is not too late) how about giving the user the ability to turn off segments of the software. So you have a simple interface, and one that uses very low ram.

So you have a beginning inteface, medium and an advance. I know some people who never go beyond the passage guide. All of the other stuff that may need to start up when Libronix starts, is using up valuable resources.

Some of us would rather spend the money on books than upgrading memory, and buying new computers.

I've got news for you. If you want to keep down the need for extra resources, stay away from using the Passage Guide. It probably uses more resources than about any other function.

In v3 you load the core software plus the Addins that are selected in the Options menu. If you uncheck an Addin you remove the functionality but don't necessarily change the interface beyond removing it from the menu system. You might also save some KB of memory (not MB!). Logos have indicated that v4 may not be as segmented as v3 so I doubt that you will be able to have software that uses very low ram!

In practice the choice of a simple, medium, etc. interface will be decided by the contents of your Workspace, as in v3 i.e. ram usage and load time is determined by the core software + workspace elements. The default workspace could be the Home Page (I'm stretching the definition a little, but it is still an interface), which I imagine can be customised as per v3.

I would agree only if that would mean something like possibility to open Logos in let's say 2 modes. BookReader / BibleReader mode and full Logos Study Mode. I think Resources are priority, but to have a very complex and rich way of using the resources is equally important for me. I want Logos to be the most sophisticated and rich way of working with the resources in the world. Hardware have to grow up to it's level. We have many free simple Bible programs which are not demanding much hardware strength like e-Sword but Logos should be using all the most advanced technologies in the computer world today (usually it means most demanding RAM and CPU capacity). If there would be an one click way of switching between Reader and Full Logos Study Mode, I would be happy, especially keeping in mind that netbooks should be able to use Logos also, although it could be in a more "diet" way than big desktop/notebook computers. That's just my suggestion.

I agree - the "two mode" approach - WITH the simple mode functional on a *wide* variety of pda's etc, would be very helpful.
And, Dan - I think it would increase sales. I've bought a LOT from y'all, but have focused mainly on "study tools" rather than "casual reading".
I'd buy more of the latter if I could read it on my Blackberry.

Re the simple mode. I think that very limited link-expansion (bible verses for sure) should be a part of it - other ref's to other resource if that resouce is present.
I don't think any rightclick stiff is needed - just the "hover popup" feature.

Presuming that a much improved Notes and Highlighting capabilty is one of v4's foci, I'd like to see those in the lite version also, with the user files easily portable/sync'able with anothe device.

Anybody know if & where there might be a comprehensive list of all of the addins & a brief but comprehensive description of exactly what they each do?

But you should look at http://www.logos.com/comparison because some addins are available only with a Library product. Feel free to ask for more detail.
