Mobile Download Management
The most recent build of Logos 4, version 4.6b, includes a new Mobile Download Management feature that allows you to mark library items to be dowloaded to registered mobile devices. I assume it is part of a Logos 5 build also. When marked for a specific device, the item is supposed to download to the device the next time the Logos Bile app is started on the specific device.
It worked as designed with my Android smartphone, but I cannot get the downdloads to work for my iPad. The iPad (first generation) runs iOS 5 and the most recent version of the Loos Bible app, 3.2.1.1993.
Has anyone else tried the new feature with an iOS device?
If yes, please repy with results (did it work?) and indicate device type, iOS version, Logos Bible version/build, and Logos desktop version/build.

Randall - Did you restart your mobile app?
I just checked, and a resource DID download to my iPhone app (I am on beta), but the local: syntax did not catch the newly downloaded resource.

Yes, I restarted the app.
I even turned the device off entirely then restarted it and the app. Still not working as described.

I'm experiencing the same problem. It actually worked ONCE on the Faithlife app on my iPad. It was the first time I had used it in a while so I had to log in again. It worked that once, but not since on either app. So, I thought I needed to log out of Faithlife and Logos and re-sign in, and not just close the app and restart it. But, no way to sign out, that I can find.
It is an exciting new feature I would love to utilize so look forward to getting it working.
And I don't know if this would be related to this issue or not, but since I had 2 iPhones listed in my devices (had to have it replaced after the back was shattered) and they were both showing with the exact same name, I edited the name on the device, expected the new name to show up in the device list and reveal which one could be deleted. It would never pick up on the new name. Finally I deleted BOTH devices from the device list. Only when I started Faithlife on the iPhone for the first time in a while (having to sign in) did the website pick up on my iPhone. So there is some syncing that is NOT taking place with the Logos servers. Hope this proves helpful.
Alex
BTW, I'm using an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4s and I always update to the latest released software.

The apps are designed for "one user," so there isn't a need for a "sign out."

I understand the reason for no sign OUT. However, if a fresh sign IN properly syncs everything then, well, what are we to do?

I'm not sure what you are saying... There is never a need to "sign in" unless you have never done so in the first place. Sometimes a "fresh install" does fix things. If you think that is the case, simply delete the app and redownload it. Have I misunderstood what you are saying?

I was just saying that the only time an app WAS automatically downloaded to my iPad was when I had to sign in to Faithlife. I'm not sure WHY I had to sign in again since I HAD done that before but it had been a while since I had used the app so perhaps that was it (IDK). Shutting down Logos and restarted NEVER caused the file sent from Logos 5 on my desktop to appear in Logos.
And the only thing that caused my iPhone to be recognized by Logos to be included in my devices list again was when I signed in to Faithlife on my iPhone. Again, I had done so in the past but hadn't used it in a long while. Closing Logos on my iPhone and restarting it did NOT cause Logos to add the iPhone to my list of devices. Only signing in to Faithlife helped in either case.
The solution is NOT to delete the app and all my books and reinstall. Somehow the IOS apps are not fully syncing or something and thus not receiving pushed downloads or being recognized and added to my list of devices. UNLESS, I sign in fresh (it seems).

Did you ever change your password on Logos.com?

No.

Are you indeed a first time forum poster, or has your post count been reset?
I have never been asked to sign in again to any of the apps... I'm trying to see if I can figure out why you had to do so.

I guess I AM a first time forum poster.
As to why I had to re-sign in. The only other reason I can think of is because of a Windows app I ran several days ago that cleared junk files off my iPad and iPhone. Perhaps that cleared more away than just true junk!
But that really is beside the point of this thread. Only fresh sign-ins seemed to produce any results.

If you ran some windows program that "cleared junk files" off your iPad, I assume it had something to do with having to sign in again. Are you sure that it didn't redownload ALL of your downloaded resources after you signed back in?
As I said previously, you aren't supposed to ever have to sign in again... So "fresh sign-ins" aren't the solution.
What version of L5 are you using?

Thanks Alex. Logos will have to chime in. It is possible that the current beta fixes this issue, which is why it's working for me... Or not.

We hope so. Thanks for your help.
BTW, do you live in Alabama or just a fan? I'm in the Birmingham area.

My family is from Alabama, and I spent every summer growing up there. I used to take my wife and boys to the beach each summer, but my grandmother passed away late last year and I don't know if the family is going to continue that tradition or not.
I am an Alabama "Crimson Tide" fan. I changed my forum name for a little more privacy shortly after joining. I don't think I would have chosen this name just for the Logos forums, but it was a name I have used for at least 15 years and it was convenient for me to use and remember. ("Alabama" was taken, so I tried several other variants and ended up with "Alabama24.") My avatar shows my iPad with the Logos app, with my grandfather's Crimson Tide coffee mug, on my grandmother's kitchen table. [:)]

Hi Randal,
I have Logos 5.0b and am having the same problems with both my iPad and iPhone. Also, I can't get the "device" column in the library to stay selected. It disappears every time I close the library. I have a thread about it here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/66320.aspx. I'm going to try and call Logos tomorrow or Tuesday.

Hi Randal,
This issue is fixed in the upcoming iOS release - it should be available in the Apple store sometime this week.

Thank you. Nice new feature.
