What do You think of Evangelical Ressourcement Series (4 vols.)?

This series was published in 2005–2007 by Baker Academic. I don't like Baker all that much. Evangelical Ressourcement Series (4 vols.)

How would it compare to: The Encyclopedia of Christianity, vols 1-5?

I would prefer a bit liberal take on Early Church History, but I don't know whether I can justify the price difference and I don't know what that encyclopedia is like, I'll see if I can have a look at it in a library within a month from now.

It doesn't at all.

The Encyclopedia is just that, and a massive one. It covers all and any topic, from a modern point of view. At Amazon you have look-into pages and even some reviews.

I don't know whether I can justify the price difference

I've seen some very inexpensive used copies of the paper edition on the web, maybe you can help yourself that way.

The evangelical ressourcement series is a totally different kind of bird. These are monographs that address an evangelical audience from a very specific angle: trying to root the - often history-less - evangelical faith in the soil of the Early Church. Highly readable even for laypeople (I own most of these in paper and/or Kindle format), but intentionally following this direction. One topic (or so) per book.

These two series answer different questions from different angles of perspective, geared at a different audience.

Just before I read Your reply I decided I'm going to cut down on Church history resources, so I skipped Popular Patristics Series, Part 1 (10 vols.) which I've had on pre-order since Apr 22, 2012, Christianity and Politics: A Brief Guide to the History, to cancel my bid ($40) altogether on Text and Studies Contributions to Biblical and Patristic Literature (29 vols.), and also decided not to raise my $30 bid on Classic Commentaries and Studies on the Biblical Apocrypha / Deuterocanon (42 vols.).

Plus I decided not to get any regular Bible dictionary, I'll wait many years for a dictionary that is less conservative than ISBE and has more modern theories on Bible books and is more in favour of the LXX and has some non-transliterated Gk words (and it's OK if it's limited to the NT). http://community.logos.com/forums/t/66283.aspx?PageIndex=2

But I added: The Dictionary of Historical Theology to my wish-list as it's close to what I'm looking for and mid-prized.
