Will auto hyperlinks in notes be coming soon with the new editor features?
Excuse me for stealing a quote from another thread… [:O]
On Mac specifically, users will be getting some very long-desired features like auto reference detection, improved list support and editing, etc.
Does "will be" imply that this feature should NOT be working currently in the new beta?
Use my own words against me?! [;)]
I developed the core, cross-platform aspect of the new editor which fully supports reference detection. I will get a Mac client desktop dev to come answer your question specifically.
Thanks Alan. [:)]
Bible references are automatically hyperlinked as you type. Edit for clarity: By "will have", I mean that this behavior is shipping in the current beta.
This is not working for me. Would you like logs? (I may have to post later tonight).
Steps and screenshots would probably suffice. What are you typing that doesn't work?
This is true for websites as well (i.e. www.logos.com)
Here is my version #
Did the wrong version get shipped?
The new notes editor will not auto-generate hyperlinks for existing references. However, you should find that normal URL references (e.g. "www.logos.com") and Bible references are automatically hyperlinked as you type.
Do I understand that to mean breaking the existing bible verse references on Windows is by design?
Also there may be situations where people paste copied text into notes, which doesn't invoke the auto-detect which seems to be tied to typing "space" after a reference - I strongly wish for a button "detect references"

I strongly wish for clarity. so far this new editor won't drag and drop and now it won't pick up existing references ...

The right version is shipped, but there appears to be some cases where the new editor is not activated appropriately. I am tracking down those issues. You may confirm that you are using the new editor by explicitly creating a link with the hyperlink button in the toolbar. Currently, the new editor will display links in a darker blue than the rest of the application. This may be used as a visual indicator of which version is running. If you don't mind, please take a screenshot with a link and post it to confirm.

We do not break or remove any data by design. We have identified areas where reference may not work correctly and will fix those in a future release. Also, references should be detected whenever data is pasted into the new editor. It may not be a one-click experience, but I hope that it will suffice.
No.
There should be no reduction in functionality. However, bugs can (and do!) happen. I guess that's why they call it "beta". [;)]
