Thanks you for the screenshot. Do you know if the iPhone app functions similarly to the iPad?

Yes. As I said above, it looks different, but it functions the same.

Actually, you can notice that it IS slightly different in the Morphological section… Interesting. There is certainly less room to work with. I assume that has something to do with it. [;)]

Thank you again for the help! I've been doing some comparison of Logos and Accordance and am pretty decided on Logos at this point but wanted to get a little more understanding of how capable the iPhone app was.

Paul - I love Logos and highly recommend it. You should be aware that many of the mobile features are "online only" including word studies.

Thanks for the tip on the online features. Does that mean you can't view the interlinear data you displayed unless you're online? I assume I'd have the option to access any resources I download to the phone when I'm not online. Is that accurate? Additionally, I read that it used to be a challenge to research root words in the original languages on Logos, but that has improved with Logos 5. Can you show me any screenshots both on the computer and on the IOS app of how you can research root words in the original languages? Additionally, how easy is it to further research the morphological info in the tool? I don't have formal training in the original languages, so I'm looking for the ability to better understand things like the verb tense used in a given verse. Thank you again!

That is correct

You can access downloaded resource when offline but some of the functions (such as accessing morph data, running Passage Guides and Text Comparisons) are only available when online as they are executed on Logos servers and the results are then displayed within the app on the mobile device

The first screenshot shows that when right-clicking on a word you can do subsequent searches against either the lemma or the root.
The second screenshot shows how a Bible Word Study conducted against a lemma then shows information about the root which can form the basis of subsequent search and analysis
These functions are available in Logos 5 (desktop) but not currently available on the mobile platforms.

Verb tense - and other information - can be found by hovering over a word
and more detailed information can be found using tools such as the Information Panel & Exegetical Guide,
All these functions are also just available on the desktop - not mobile devices.

Hi! This is a thing I've tried to figure out. When I tap on a word on the Logos for IPhone App, the only thing that shows in the "black box" is "search the Bible" and "Bible word study on" and I can't see the Hebrew word and parsing at all. Do I need to download something else also. I don't have the Logos software on my computerThank formula
Thankful for all help!!!

Some of the features are only for users with a base package… Having the software on your computer is irrelevant… but it sounds like you don't have a base package either.

What translation are you using? What version of the app are you running? What device is it?

Hi. Thank's for your reply! I'm currently having the ESV, English Standard Version, to change it is not a problem. I use the 3.2.3 app version on a Iphone 4S. I don't think I have the base package, I just downloaded the App and signed What is the base package, and how can you get it?
And now when I tap on a word and push the "Look Up" it goes to some english dictionary.

This feature isn't available for non paying users, at least not with the ESV. If the feature were to work, it would likely be only with the Lexham English Bible, which Logos owns. You can try and see if it works. Since I actually own the resources, I can't trouble shoot that for you. Sorry! NOTE: You must be online for the feature to work… the search is performed on the Logos servers.

This is the expected behavior when 1) you down own the proper resources or 2) you are offline.

Logos has expanded into new markets, including mobile apps, Vyrso eBooks, and Faithlife study bible… (which is free right now, by the way). Historically, however, Logos has been high end Bible software for the PC (or more recently Mac) which focuses primarily on selling a library full of books. These are purchased through what they call "base packages." You can find out more HERE. If your primary usage is mobile, a base package probably isn't for you. The desktop software engine is free, however most of the features require the datasets and databases included in the base packages (or minimal cross grades). The ability to look up original language words, for example, requires a "reverse interlinear." I am not sure if Logos gives you that for the LEB as one of the free resources.

Okay, I think I get it . So if I for example buy the bronze package which include the hebrew and Greek language tools, that will make it work in the IPhone app? Otherwise not. The Lexham translation was available so I'm using that now. And your language tools are working on the app?

Melissa - It sounds like you understand correctly. I will clarify one point though… The desktop app is the primary one. The mobile app is very useful (I use it everyday), but it isn't the same thing as L5, nor does it have all the same features.
