Comparing Greek manuscripts

I tried using Text Comparison to compare the Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament to the Byzantine/Majority Textform Greek New Testament. I set it to "ignore case", "ignore marks" and "ignore punctuation" otherwise it will mark every word as different because diacritical marks, such as accents and breathing marks, are not included in the Byzantine/Majority Textform as they are in the NA27. This generally works well, but in John 1:1 it considers the entire verse to be different, but I am not sure why.

What does the little red circle mean in the comparison?

I miss the version 3 comparison which shows additions and deletions compared to the base text in a different color.

I am running 4.0A beta 2, but I remember it did it in 4.0 SP5 as well.

Do you have another version of the Byzantine text available. Robert and I are both using one with 0% difference. Yours appears to have a different name and for some reason, there is a line separating the reference from the verse.

The red circle tells you the differences: changes in case, punctuation, etc...

I see that you are using a different "Byzantine" resource.I think the one I used was the older edition that I inherited from an earlier version of Logos.

But my original question remains: Why does this say "100% different", when it is not except for the diacritical marks. I have "Ignore Marks" turned on. I had done the original comparison with "Byzantine/Majority Textform Greek New Testament"

As I said, there appears to be an error in which a line break has been introduced and the tool is trying to compare the text of NA27 with a blank line....

I see that it appears to be doing that. I think the comparison should automatically ignore such things as blank lines or at least acknowledge that the blank line is inserted and then start the comparison from that point.

Yes, sir. I copied your settings and got the same results. Looks like a bug to me.
