Can't attach files in "Logos.com Website" forum or "Desktop Beta" forum using Options/File attac

The File attachment "Add/Update" button is not enabled on those forums. It works on other forums, such as "Logos 4 Windows":

It appears that it has to be enabled on a case-by-case basis for each forum. What a pain. Why not have it be on by default for all forums?

Yes, you can use the paperclip icon to do attachments, but there are times when the other feature is a better way to do it.

I discovered this problem when I was in the midst of giving advice to another user to try this option because he wasn't able to attach a text file using the paperclip -- it caused the forum to lose data and crash.

I don't know for sure of any time when it's better to use the File attachment option, but it does attach the file up at the top of your post where it might be more noticeable and not lost in the midst of the text. So I suppose it's just a personal style preference. I usually use the paperclip because it's easier/quicker.

I was thinking the same. Plus, if you get the post by e-mail, there is no sign whatsoever that there's a file attached. You have to guess it from the content of the post.

But now at least I know why Ken's, and sometimes Mark's, files are at the top and not the bottom of their posts. Thanks for educating me.[:)]

Wait. The other day Mark was replacing a file in an OP that was several days old. I assumed he did it with the help of Logos. But now I'm wondering: can you perhaps remove or replace a file for more than 10 hours if you attach it that way instead of with the icon?

No, I don't think so. You'd have to edit the post to access that attach feature, and you can't even get into edit mode on the post if it's more than 10 hours since you posted.
