Suggested improvements to Guides menu (Logos 5)

1. Add the ability to drag the column divider to adjust the width of the area where custom guides are listed

2. Add the ability to sort the list of custom guides (e.g., a sort button at the top of the list)

3. Add the ability to drag any custom guide title up or down in the list so you can reorder them with your favorites at the top. [Yes, as a hack, if #2 were implemented, we could rename them with numbers before them so they'd sort in the order we want, but this would look cluttered and would be cumbersome to reorder/renumber them all if you created a new guide that you wanted to position somewhere near the top of the list.]

Yes, definitely. I really miss not being able to do this.

I don't have enough custom guides to near the other suggestions, but I can see why they'd be helpful.

BTW, kudos that Logos at least does remember the size of the Guides menu between sessions if you resize it. [Y]
That would have been a major oversight and I would have added it to my suggestion list.

If you do implement my suggestion #1, please remember to save the column sizes between sessions, too.

Thank you so very much, Rosie, for that screenshot! I had no idea it was possible to make that dropdown larger, and the tiny square for custom guides was rather annoying. So annoying, in fact, that I haven't yet gotten around to fixing all the guides they destroyed for me when I upgraded.

First I assumed it was yet another parity issue. I don't know what it looks like on PC, but on Mac there's no visible cue at all that it's resizable, so it's never occurred to me that it could be. But thanks to you I tried, and voilà, once I hovered over the corner I got a tiny double-arrow. It's nice when they code these things, but it would be even nicer if they coded them in such a way that you knew they were there...

And did you know that you can resize the Name, Type, and Reference columns? That's why I though it was so puzzling that you couldn't resize the dividing line between the (very narrow by default) Start column and the right side of the menu.

And rearrange them, and sort by them. Yes, that I did pretty much the first day I had L5 (finding at least two bugs and one repeatable crash in the process -- though, strictly speaking, that was in Documents, not Guides). The column headings behave like column headings normally do, whether it be in Logos' Library or in iTunes, so that's easy. But having a draggable corner that doesn't have the symbol for a draggable corner is anything but normal, at least on Mac. And I've tried dragging on lots of corners in Logos over the years, that I wish were draggable, but until now I've always failed when the symbol was missing, so I guess I had given up.

It's a good idea to make that column resizable, but personally I feel far more need for it in Collections. The upper part there takes up far too much of the space: SUGGESTION: Adjustable size for the upper section in Collections.

Definitely a worthy suggestion. Less necessary now that we can view collections in the Library window, which gives us much more vertical real estate, especially when it's in a maximized floating window which is how I always keep it open:

Didn't think about that, but that only works when all you want is to take a quick look at the included books. It doesn't help when you're trying to create a collection, or tweak one, and need to see if you've gotten it right, or figure out what's the best way to get rid of unwanted books. Scrolling up and down, up and down, to find the common denominator between eight books you don't want included isn't fun. Another five lines or so would help.

I agree, that's no fun. When I'm working on creating or tweaking a collection, I usually end up Alt-Tabbing back and forth between the collection tab and my Library (which I always keep up in a maximized floating window). But that would no longer be necessary if the collection tab showed more books. However I might still do it anyway, as there are times when I just want to try something out -- e.g., "what would happen if I reversed the boolean logic and excluded certain matching books instead, which ones would be left and do I want to add those ones to the collection manually" -- I can play with such scenarios in the Library without messing up my collection rule.

Just a bump to say that this is still really needed. In particular, we need to be able to:

Make the left-hand column wider.
Drag/drop to sort guides.

I don't have anywhere near as many guides as Rosie, but the inability to do these two simple things hampers my study.
