A Case for Vector Maps?

The "Biblical World" map is great - I just discovered it. it reveals more places as you zoom in. The shame is that the underlying map graphic is low resolution and blocky and does not do the place data justice.

A higher-resolution map, or a vector one is really needed here, or a multi-level graphic like Google Maps.

You could say that again. This is what I get when I zoom in:

(Btw, Bethphage is much too far north. In real life it's just east of the Mount of Olives.)

Interesting comment, fgh. I know you're not real thrilled with where older maps put their roads. The map below is BibleMapper which seems to use a high-res image and then zooms in (and so mucho kb). But it's reluctant to locate Bethphage, but guesses as you said, behind Olives. The older road from Jericho was on the north side, but at least back to the 40s (Russian topo east of Jerusalem) and since curves back behind Olives.

Improved maps are one of those things that we have been asking for years particularly since the demise of Bible Atlas. At this stage, you will have to go to other products to get something more powerful.

Vectorized maps are nothing new. The technology is not new. I look forward to having an upgrade of this resource.
