Handy New Features

Just noticed in Library Information:-
1. Type - is not a Communty Tag
2. Set Series - works one resource at a time! Changed existing series name OK (have to re-load open resources). I was able to recreate a good old Libronix Serial association between a Hebrew lexicon and a Greek lexicon. Wow!
3. Collections - lists collections!
4. Link to Resource's Info.

Awesome! You can actually edit the series metadata now? Hurray!
What does the link to Resource Info jump to? Aren't we already looking at the resource info here in this panel?
I'm not in the beta program anymore, as I haven't had time for it lately, but these things and other additions I know they've made to 5.1 mean I can't wait until it ships. And we're still only at beta 1, so maybe there will be even more good stuff coming.

Dave,
I would like to believe you, but I find it hard to do so. So, when the updated version comes out the ol' adage will be true "I believe it when I see it". Anything else you would like to add?

Rosie, upon clicking "Resource Info", the resource opens behind the library window if just opening the library from the icon with full resource info displayed. It knocks navigating to the full resource info screen by a click.

From the resource panel, the information is different e.g. includes Indexes, Search fields, Version data.

+1 [Y] Wow plus Thanks [:D]
Using Logos 5.1 Beta 1 on OS X 10.8.2 renamed two series, refreshed Library search, then set advanced prioritization using new series:

Using Logos 5.1 Beta 1 on OS X 10.8.2 renamed two series, refreshed Library search, then set advanced prioritization using new series:
Also encountered Beta bugginess while migrating advanced prioritization for JPS commentaries from 1917:Tanakh to series with 1917:Tanakh + 1913:AOT + 1913:POT. Couple long spinning beach balls after removing an advanced prioritization, then dragging 1917:Tanakh for the next commentary. Also, Library Prioritize jumped backed to top of list, which was a bit surprising since had a dialog box open to choose a resource. After changing an Advanced Prioritization, clicked Sync Arrows, which spun then stopped, followed by library prioritization jump back to top.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Wish they would put such efforts into "really" practical tools!!

One more Bug: series changes did not sync from Logos 5.1 Beta 1 on OS X 10.8.2 to Logos 5.1 Beta 1 on Windows 7 while advanced library prioritizations using new series did sync.

Thanks Dave for this info. I saw this just today, and I was wondering about it.Dave Hooton said:2. Set Series - works one resource at a time! I am wondering if you know (because it looks like you have been playing with the setting) if chaning this serries setting will override (change) the series setting that comes with some resources? For an example, if I type something in this field for a commentary that is part of the Hermeneia series, will the said commentary still be consider part of the Hermeneia series? thanks

Thanks Dave for pointing out these new features, I might have missed them. Having the ability to work with types and to set series will be great.

Concur that series changes do not appear in Library prioritize list. For grins, changed series Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha Commentaries (Charles) to Apocrypha & Pseudepigrapha Commentaries (Charles) on Windows 7, waited for Library index to complete. Series change appeared for resources, but Library Prioritize shows old series with 2 Volumes.
Closed Library then reopened to show number of volumes in new series changed:
Resource association with Series does not sync. On OS X, clicked sync arrows, which updated Library Prioritize list so new series appears, but resources have original series:
Feature Parity Bug on OS X is lack of pop-up when mouse is hovering over a prioritized series to show number of volumes.
Another example, using Logos 5.1 Beta 1 on OS X 10.8.2 changed series The King James Version with Apocrypha to 1900:King James Version with Apocrypha then dragged KJV to Library priorities, which has new series name and manually deleted old series. On Windows 7, the new series 1900:King James Version with Apocrypha appeared with 0 volumes in Library Prioritize list along with KJV resources having the original series of The King James Version with Apocrypha so manually changed series for KJV resources and closed Library. Opening Library on Windows 7 now has 2 volumes in new series 1900:King James Version with Apocrypha

Yes it will. When it says "Set series" there is no Series for the resource, otherwise it will show the Series name. If you want to change the Series name you have to do it for every resource in the Series; and Logos allow only one resource to be changed at a time! So be careful.
Primarily, you would set a series name between resources to produce a serial association e.g. between any Greek NT and any Hebrew OT bible, which allows you to type an OT passage into the NT bible and transfer you immediately to the OT resource; the same way it works between different Volumes of a Commentary set/series.

There are currently some sync problems with the "Set series" data (which is partly why this wasn't announced in the release notes). The UI for this will be hidden in the next beta until the sync problems can be resolved. We'll announce the feature when it's ready for testing.

Thank-you Bradley for the clarity. Wouldnt want to expect something and then not have it arrive....

Bradley, are you planning to change this later? I'm asking because one of the first things I'll want to do with this feature is make Charlesworth's Pseudepigrapha, A Marginal Jew, and Archaeology of the Land of the Bible into the series that they actually are, but unfortunately they also belong to the larger series Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library.

Changing the name for one resource should change it for all resources in the series in order to avoid orphans because you missed a resource or mistyped the new name. Setting a series should be available via multiple selection as for tags and ratings
