Could someone suggest a search formula [or method] to search for the Hebrew word אֲדֹנָ֤י ADONAI when it is referring to God?
Hi Bill
You need something like:

Graham
Thanks, Graham. But I am also wanting verses [like Ps 110:1] where "God" is not specifically mentioned - but it is clear it is He.
1 The Lord said to my Lord,“Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” (Psalm 110:1, NKJV)
Try using Passage Lists to make your list.

I can help you but first do you own, or have in your library Tyndale Bible Dictionary?
EDIT:see next post
I don't have time to explain now:
Hope this helps....
very good thread. I came across this issue many times while studying...
Is there a video or more detail explanations regarding search with strings like these?
Thank you

In Logos 5 (in resources with appropriate tagging), can right click on a word, click Root, click Morph Search. For this subject, choosing to match case in search along with using ANDEQUALS finds many verses. A Morph Search can be changed to a Bible Search, which can show results in a grid:
Learned the New Revised Standard Version and Septuagint (Logox LXX) translated ADONAI as God in 21 verses while ADONAI was often translated Lord.

For this subject, choosing to match case in search along with using ANDEQUALS finds many verses.
If match all word forms is chosen for search, then Genesis 23:6 is in the results when adonai is translated lord with reference to Abraham.
If you look up "God" in Bible Facts, it gives a list of various lemmas, including 36 instances of ʾāḏôn ʾănî yhw and 27 of ʾāḏôn.
I think this list is based on the Bible Sense Lexicon or the Person labelling rather than any particular translation, so it might find a few more instances (although there isn't much leeway in how to translate adonai).
It doesn't find Ps 110:1 because the Bible Sense Lexicon records adonai there as referring to the "Davidic Ruler" rather than to God.
A Bible Word Study on the lemma will also give you a chart of the distribution of adonai in the sense of Lord God, but at the moment it won't say what those references are. There are 384 instances listed, so my first suggestion clearly doesn't find them all.
Actually the whole search gets thrown into a tizzy...but then you will probably search just your preferred text of choice...
thanks for the clarification.
In addition to the suggestions already made, you might try doing a lemma search for Adonai and a clause search for person:God.
make a passage list from both search results and merge the two lists taking the intersection of them both.
this might give some false hits but could be a good place to start.
I'm not at my computer at the moment so can't check if this works.
Learned searching for lemma in All Bibles finds results in two more resources compared to root search:
Also found simplier syntax for ANDEQUALS with case sensitive search:
([field bible, content] <lemma = lbs/he/אָדוֹן>) ANDEQUALS (Lord,God)
When I checked this I found that it still didn't find Psalm 110:1.
I think this is due to a bug which I have flagged at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/68245/474770.aspx#474770
