Unusual Heating Problem In MacBook Pro due to L5.1B2
I'm running Logos 5.1 Beta 2 (5.1.0.0872) in a MacBook Pro (late 2011), OSX 10.8.3, CPU: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, RAM: 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I was running Logos (and other apps) and decide to put the computer to sleep.
Wake up the computer and start working on other apps when notice the computer heating up very rapidly and the battery being drained very fast as well (about 20% of the battery in 5 minutes or so).
Decided to check Activity Monitor and noticed Logos app "is not responding". ForceQuit Logos and heat dissipates and battery consumption goes back to normal.
Not so concerned about the ForceQuit issue, but Logos tried to fry my Mac... I've had heating issues while doing CPU intensive applications, but this was extreme.
I will not leave Logos 5.1 unattended in the future.
Anyone experiencing something similar?

Just updated to L5.1B3 and will keep my eyes on the temperature...

Same happened to me yesterday on my Mac Book Pro. Has not reoccurred so far.

Were you using Beta 2 or Beta 3?

No, had nothing to do with indexing.

Software doesn't fry your hardware. Any program using 100% CPU will cause your mac to heat up, but the fan should kick into gear and in normal ambient temperature it should be happy to carry on running like this indefinitely (for the normal life of the hardware). You should make sure you're not blocking where the exhaust air blows out (between the black hinge and the bottom of the aluminium unibody), and for best heat dissipation place it on a solid surface.

This is not the first computer I've used nor the first software.
The battery consumption was very unusual and the heating was extreme.

I have had this happen from time to time, but it wasn't "repeatable." Most of the time it is related to indexing, but not always. It also happens more often on my MacBook than on my iMac… but other programs make my MacBook behave this way too. There was nothing in beta 2 which made my MacBook (or iMac) perform the way your's did. If it happens again, try to grab logs.

I've experienced the notorious indexing heat before, but this was not related to that (at least there was no indexing apparently going on), I had never had this happen to me before. It occurred after waking the computer. I ForceQuit Logos and the extreme heating and battery consumption stopped. I'll stay alert.
