Login/Logout Issue on iPad

I just had to change my password and now I can not login on the iPad app.  Under account / setting it says I am logged in, but it is not.  It also will not log off from that first choice to enter in a new password.   Any help is appreciated.   My only solution, so far, is to delete the app and reload it.

Might be just as quick and easy to delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to download your resources again but that should log you out so you can login clean.

Lionel - Thanks.   This is what I have to do, but hoping for a way to reset the ap without deleting and reloading.

At this time, the only way to "log out" of the Bible! app is to delete it and reinstall. This will allow you to have access to the sign in screen and log in with the updated email address.

The Logos app is designed for "one user." There is no log out feature because it isn't designed for more than one user. In the situation you described, a log out would automatically delete your downloaded resources when you sign in with the new credentials, so the only thing you would be saving is the actual download of the app itself.

There needs to be a way to enter a new password when a previously successful one is failing.  This functionality could easily be added.

Thanks for pointing that out… I didn't notice that before… Yes, when you change your password, it can cause problems. I don't know if Logos has spoken on the topic.

    Hi Joe,

I've written up a case for this issue - thanks for reporting it.

Hi Douglas! Welcome to the forums. [:)]

I can appreciate your concern. Hopefully the devs will be able to take a look at this issue. Unfortunately, that won't likely come for some time. There isn't a fix in the latest beta, and I think it is about ready to ship. Even if it were to make it into the next beta cycle, it would probably be a couple of months away. Of course, I could be wrong. [:)]

Did you have many downloaded resources? Is that your primary concern, or is it internet? Other?

It is immensely important to remember the things which are really and truly important in life, so I am trying very hard to keep this in mind while I contemplate the effects of this password issue!

I thought this was a free app? Now I have to have an account?

Currently, I have only 44 of 400 resources at my disposal, and my iPad offered a comforting message when I was poised to delete the old app: "Deleting Logos Bible will also delete all of its data." Am I to understand that if I delete that app that all of my highlighting and notes will be discarded? Thankfully, it seems I can obtain all of my resources through Vyrso, but my notes and highlights are not available.

Is it your suggestion that I wait for a "fix," or am I relegated to dumping the app and reinstalling another one? Thank you!

Welcome to the forums Galen! [:)]

I thought this was a free app?

    It is a free app.

Now I have to have an account?

You don't need to have an account, but you probably should.

    1. You need to have an account if you purchase any new resources
    2. If you DO purchase any new resources, entering your account info grants you access to the resource on the mobile app. Otherwise, Logos doesn't know that you own the resources!
    3. If you have an account, you can sync info (notes, highlights, locations, etc) across the various apps (mobile & desktop). If you don't have an account, the app is completely sandboxed and everything will be lost when you delete it.

Does this mean that you didn't sign in to the app with an account that you have already? Did you create a second account, or are you not actually signed in at all? If you DO delete the app and you are NOT signed it, you will lose everything. If you ARE signed in to a secondary account, Logos might be able to help you merge the accounts.

It sounds like you signed into Vyrso, but not into the Logos Bible! app. Is that right?

Is it your suggestion that I wait for a "fix," or am I relegated to dumping the app and reinstalling another one? Thank you!

I dont believe a "fix" will be coming anytime soon (but I could be wrong).

Galen - Did you not sign in at all, or did you use a secondary account? If you aren't signed in at all, you should be able to sign in now. Let us know and we can try to walk you through it. I'm on my way out the door now, but I can post screen shots later if need be.

    Thanks for your help, Ala24:

Yesterday I accessed Logos on my laptop to get the book of the month. While I was there I changed my password. Voila! Today, I am experiencing the issues on my iPad.

I'll try and answer your questions:

Does this mean that you didn't sign in to the app with an account that you have already?

If I ever signed in it was on day 1. Since then I'd simply touch the Logos app and it would always open my stuff. The only instances where I've had to log in was using Logos.com for purchases, etc.

Did you create a second account, or are you not actually signed in at all?

The only action I performed was to change my password. You know the drill: Type in old password, type in new password, confirm new password. Then I received the obligatory email from Logos stating I've made changes to my account.

I've tried a few more times to create an account on the iPad and it's saying my email address is already in use by another account or is not a valid email address. I'm currently logged on now while I respond to you, so if that's the issue, I don't know, but I believe I have only one account and I'm the only one who uses it.

It sounds like you signed into Vyrso, but not into the Logos Bible! app. Is that right?

Yes, I logged onto Vyrso using my new Logos password. If I skip trying to open an account on the Logos app, it will then direct me to a bare-bones account where I have access to the 44 resources I mentioned earlier.

Hope this helps and thank you, friend, for your assistance.

24 - One other detail. I guess I am currently logged into Vyrso on iPad but cannot figure out how to log out. When I go to accounts, it has my email address next to the Logos logo "signed in" tab, yet the tab does nothing. How likely is this the "other account" that's being referred to?

Galen - I'm still a little bit confused, but we will struggle through it together. [:)]

I guess I am currently logged into Vyrso on iPad but cannot figure out how to log out.

The apps are meant for only one user. Consequently, there is no way to "sign out." If there were a way to sign out, all of your user data would be deleted upon signing out. If you ever need to sign out, the only way is to delete the app.

When I go to accounts, it has my email address next to the Logos logo "signed in" tab, yet the tab does nothing. How likely is this the "other account" that's being referred to?

It sounds like you only have one account. If you had two accounts, you would have had to have used TWO email addresses, but that doesn't sound like what you have done. If the email address in Vyrso is the one you expected to see, then you only have one account.

Is the Logos Bible! app currently installed on your device, or did you end up deleting it? If it is still installed, but you are afraid to delete it, what data are you worried about losing?

By the way, do you use Logos on a desktop computer (Mac or PC)?

    24 -

I still have the app - haven't deleted yet. I guess the word is "distraught." I am distraught about the prospect of losing notes and highlights in certain books. This is tempered (somewhat) by the fact that the books are no longer there.

I use Logos on a Mac.

    Have a blessed day!

    Hi Galen

I am distraught about the prospect of losing notes and highlights in certain books

I use Logos on a Mac.

Are the notes and highlights you have made on your iPad visible in the relevant resources in Logos on your Mac?

If so - then you made them when you were logged into the same account as you use on your Mac and you shouldn't lose anything (in terms of notes or highlights) if you delete the app from the iPad.

If they are not visible on Mac, then it looks as though you weren't logged in on the iPad and we will need to look at things more closely

From what you say above you should see the highlights and notes on your Mac.

Please advise before deleting the app[:)]

To add to what Graham said... After looking things over last night, I decided to install another one of the Logos apps on my iPad and NOT sign in... Highlighting isn't allowed. There are two possibilities:

    1. You created a new account when you originally logged in
    2. You used the same account

It sounds like #2 is the case. The notes and highlights SHOULD be on your Mac. The notes and highlights SHOULD be in the resources in the Vyrso app. If so, delete the Logos Bible! App and reinstall it. Signing in with your new email & password should fix things.

I checked and verified duplication of my notes and highlighting on my iMac, so that gave me a great level of confidence, so I deleted the app and reinstalled one. Once again, however, I get the "email address is already in use by another account or is not a valid email address." Any ideas?

Another thought... Is there anything different about your email address? Are you outside of the US?

    Hi Galen,

Please contact Logos support and see if they can help.  If they can't resolve the issue I'll talk with the dev team and see what we can do.

Problem solved in approximately 2 minutes. What was happening (my fault, of course), the Logos app was directing me to choose: Register or sign in. The boxes were stacked on top of each other. The top box was "Register" and so, naturally, that's what I tried to do. It makes sense now. I have "signed in" successfully and have all of my resources. Thank you Kevin, Alabama 24, and others for taking the time to assist me. God bless you!
