BUG: Ommission in topics
I see that Judith has been added as a person on topics.logos.com but it has not been added as a text. This makes it rather difficult to update the topics/reading list ...

I'm not sure i understand. There's http://topics.logos.com/Book_of_Judith (though you have to search for "Judith" in quotes to find it, an unfortunate feature of wiki search: just searching for Judith without quotes takes you directly to http://topics.logos.com/Judith without letting you know there are other matches).

duh .... Thanks Sean. When Judith didn't find it I didn't think of obvious alternatives.[:$] Thanks for the tip on wiki search. I didn't know that.

I would never have thought that "Judith" would find different results than Judith. That's odd.

I suppose the rationale is not to bother you with partial matches if there's an exact match for what you typed (without quotes, as the easiest version). But that can also hide information, which is also a bother.

Maybe I have more books with "the message" in their title than you have, and Logos is matching those first for some reason (though none of them are prioritized higher than "The Message" in my library).
I've already reported this bug, though, and Bradley acknowledged it, so hopefully it will get looked into in due time. Sooner rather than later, though, hopefully. This one annoys me every time I try to open The Message.

The Logos wiki is a completely different system than Logos 5; "tips and tricks" that are applicable to one system are highly unlikely to work in the other. Specifically, typing quote characters into the command bar in Logos 5 will not have any beneficial effect.

I think that's it, especially since the last of the choices offered to Sean doesn't have "the message" but "messages" in the title. I can confirm what you see, Rosie.
Sean, maybe you can unlock the "The Bible Speaks Today" NT commentary series for you for trying this - they are all titled "The Message of [Biblebook]".
My guess is we have a bug in the (often regarded as 'mysterious' or so) ranking algorithm, since the top 5 ranked library search results seem to drive the offers for the open command:

This bug drives "The Message" to an 27th place in my library, since the full match is not preferred over matches with additional text in the title.
It would be expected that "The message" period ranks higher than "the message and/of/Behind" but it doesn't. The order of "and - of - Behind" are maybe case sensitive alphasorts - but maybe this is coincidence, since there is no discernible sort order in the BST titles - maybe just an arbitrary order from the download or indexing process

Here's what he said: "The Library already contains logic to ensure exact title matches are highest ranked for a query; I wasn't aware that this logic wasn't also in the Command Box and have filed a bug."
So don't waste any more time reproducing the bug, Sean. Bradley seems to know what is causing it. I was just hoping someone else could add to the chorus to bump up the priority to fix this sooner rather than later. Thanks!

hm - but it does have an effect: leaving them off distorts the ranking and takes out the highest ranked library match for the title string:

According to my screenshots Bradley's quote is not accurate, at least what 5.1 beta 4 is concerned. The command box shows exactly the five highest ranked matches from a string search in the library's titles - thus maybe they fixed the alignment of Open command and library search, but ranking does not yield the exact title match as highest rank.

Bradley has commented on your thread, as you know, and clarified that his remark refers to a simple library search only. Right now I'm unclear about the direction for the command box bug - but I think we've given them all info they need to see where the problem is.

I shouldn't have brought up the command box bug in this thread, as I believe it was adequately reported on the other thread to be reproducible, and Bradley already entered a bug in their database for it. He already had guessed that some logic was missing in the command box code which was in the simple library search code, so I'm guessing that's their direction for fixing it.
So, apologies for hijacking this thread. It was unnecessary, just borne out of my frustration with that bug, and Sean's comment reminded me of it. That's all. I didn't mean to send people into a wild goose chase trying to reproduce it.
