He's always been known around Regent College for hanging onto his old manual typewriter when the rest of the world had passed him by decades ago, but there's something timeless about it and the wisdom he dispenses in this short clip. Beautifully shot, and wonderful words.

I had the honor of taking a course from Dr. Packer when he was visiting our seminary during the January term back in the mid-1980s. We had a wonderful dialogue over his concerns about D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones' view on the sealing of the Spirit. I will never forget him. He made me feel like a friend.

I spent two weeks in a similar session with there with Packer in the 2009 summer program going through Ephesians and Colossians. My wife got to spend the two weeks with Mark Noll studying historical Hymnody. One of my most memorable getaways. I highly recommend it. And while you're at it drive just a little south and crash in on a nearby company called Logos Bible Software.

I too had the honour of taking a course from him in 1980 on Puritan Theology. He has impacted me much over the years.

I have been blessed to take three courses with him: Systematic Theology A, Cistercians and Puritans (co-taught with James Houston) and a seminar class on Calvin's Institutes. He is a true gift to the church.

That course taught with James Houston would have been great. I had the honour of joining James Houston on a 10-day trip to Israel and hear him provide his biblical perspective at each location where we stopped. What a treat!

That would be wonderful. I got to do that with Earl Palmer as the speaker.

I have had several other wonderful classes with James Houston: The Christian Mind (co-taught with Craig Gay), The Trinity and Prayer (co-taught with James Torrance), The Mentored Life, and Living Elders in a Dying Church (about aging). He has been one of the most significant influences on my life.
