5.1 Beta 6: Layout/display inefficiency
When I am scrolling through a book that has dates in it, with the "Timeline events" visual filter turned on, each time I page down into a new section or article of that book, the first page of it displays initially without the timeline flags and then gets repainted with the timeline flags. This seems inefficient and slows down the perceived speed of scrolling/paging through the book, plus you can see a visual flicker when the page gets redrawn with some of the text in a slightly different position to make room for the flags.
I think you ought to wait to display anything until you've determined whether you're going to be displaying the visual filter stuff, so as not to have to draw it twice.

It might be interesting to know which resource/reference does this as I haven't found my laptop displaying any of the characteristics described e.g. AYBD, David vol 2 p41

I happened to notice it most recently in Women's Bible Commentary, but it happens quite frequently.

Look for the heading The Patriarchal Age down near the bottom of the page after I hit PageDown once. On that line, where it says "life in pre-1000-BCE Israel," when the page is first displayed, there is no timeline flag, but then there's a readjustment of that line and subsequent lines at the timeline flag is inserted.
You might need to watch it a second or third time to get your eyes in the right place to see the phenomenon. If you watch the line below that line, over near the left margin, you'll also see the word "from" jump from the end of the first line of that paragraph to the beginning of the second line, as the line layout gets redone to make room for the flag.

Incidentally, I can reproduce it in AYBD, David. Just jumping to the David page the first time causes this to happen. Going back to it a second time doesn't (the layout has already been cached, probably). But if I shut down Logos and open it back up again (with AYBD on some other page or not open), and do it again, it happens again.

I can notice it now I'm aware of what to look for. The re-paint of the surrounding words is quick!

Yes, it's pretty quick for me too, but it's sloppy programming, and I notice such things. And for people with slower machines it will noticeably slow down page-by-page scrolling.
