Syncing between devices

I have an iPhone5, and iPad and a windows laptop running Logos 4.  How do I get my notes to sync?   I take copious notes during church on my iPad but those notes in the text never make it to my notes and don't show up on other devices?  IF I go to the text I can read my notes but if I go to My Notes section they are not there?

Hi Keith - and welcome to the forums

IF I go to the text I can read my notes

Can you expand on this? Are you saying that if you go the relevant place in the resource (Bible?) then there is a notes indicator there and you can see the text you entered on your iPad, presumably be hovering over it?

but if I go to My Notes section they are not there?

Is then when you are carrying out a search or something else?

    Hi Keith! Also, Welcome. [:)]

What do you mean by "My Notes" section? Did you create a document with that name? If you can see the notes via a note indicator, then the notes HAVE synced.

What about your desktop? What specific version are you running? What OS are you running? Is there a reason you haven't updated to the free L5 engine?

FOr example - I used my iPad on a sermon on Ps 29.  I added copious notes in the text of PS 29 on my iPad.  I can now go to that text on my iPad and see the small square note indicator and can click on it and read my notes.

Now when I open Logos on my iPhone or PC those notes are not either in the text when going to PS 29 nor in my Notes directory.  All other notes that I have created seem to be there.  The iPad is a new device for me and am disappointed that the notes do not seem to be syncing.

Any help or guidance is much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply  - more info:

When creating notes they are saved in a notes directory that is searchable/ scan-able etc.  Normally notes that I make on my PC are there.

When I put the notes in the Bible text on my iPad I have a square note indicator in the text.  But when I open Logos on my PC or iPhone the notes indicator is not in the text nor are the notes in my Notes directory.

Is there a reason you haven't updated to the free L5 engine? I didn't know that it was free and went to look at downloading but cannot find a link?

    Keith –

I'm about to crash, but I saw your replies and wanted to get back with you... It seems you are using different terminology than is used by Logos (I.e. "note directory". It might be good for you to post some screen shots.

A couple questions: Are you sure you are using the same accounts on all devices? What base package do you own? What resource are you taking notes in?

Here is a link to the wiki, which has the download links for L5. http://wiki.logos.com/Getting_Started_with_Logos#Installation_.2b_Indexing

    HI Keith

When I put the notes in the Bible text on my iPad I have a square note indicator in the text.  But when I open Logos on my PC or iPhone the notes indicator is not in the text nor are the notes in my Notes directory.

As per Alabama's post I don't quite understand the terminology you are using regarding Notes and notes directories and some clarification would be useful.

But I wanted to check one thing with you.

When you are creating a note on the iPad there will be an option to choose which Notesfile you want the note to appear in ("Notes on Acts") in the example below:

For notes to be visible in resources on your PC, the resource needs to have the notesfile enabled - this is done in the visual filters menu as shown below:

Do you have the relevant notesfile selected for your resource?

    Graham,

Thank you for the help.  I suppose I was calling notes directory when I meant notes document.  I thought when I set up my "Notes Document" that I was naming a directory!  I was able to go into the iPad and see that I had the wrong notes file selected.  The question now is when you edit the note is there any way on the iPad to change the notes file?  I had to copy the note content, delete the note and then recreate the note in order to select the correct notes document.  I could not find a way to edit the notes file once the note was saved.

They are now showing up correctly and I learned a valuable lesson!  Thank you for your help!

The question now is when you edit the note is there any way on the iPad to change the notes file?

No. This must be done on the desktop.

I could not find a way to edit the notes file once the note was saved.

You can edit a note & a note document on mobile, but you cannot move notes between documents on mobile.

They are now showing up correctly

Glad it is working for you now. [:)] Let us know if you have more questions in the future.
