Can these commentaries on Kindle be imported into Logos on the iPad?

Bev, as I understand it, the only way to get kindle books into Logos right now is to convert kindle files into Word docs and then importing them as personal books. I think you need to use specialist software to do this (which may break the DRM on the kindle file?) However, as you probably know, personal books don't currently sync to the Logos iPad app. Therefore this won't help you - just yet as I understand Logos is working on personal books being available on the iPad app - no timescales given as to when yet.
Probably your best bet if you want to buy these books is to use them in the iPads kindle app.

Paul is right... The only way to move non-logos resources into Logos is to convert them to a Microsoft .docx file and import them using the "personal book builder" tool (PBB). Currently, however, personal books don't sync to the Logos servers. The effect of this is that, even if you did convert the files, they wouldn't be in the mobile Logos app. Furthermore, some resources are fairly "quick and easy" to convert... They have basic formatting, not many footnotes, etc. A commentary is the opposite of that. You might have wished you'd purchased them in Logos after you exert all that energy. [;)]
When it comes to purchasing Kindle books... I evaluate the cost savings with the difficulty of converting the resource and my desire to have the book in Logos. I purchased a book which is $40 in logos for $3.78 in Kindle... It was a "lost leader" for Kindle (they lost money on the deal), and the Kindle book is now $22ish. For the cheap price it was worth it, but the conversion would be a long process to do a <good> job... At the price I purchased it, I wouldn't hesitate buying it in Logos if there were to be a good sale, so for now, the book is available to me in the Kindle app, rather than Logos.
I very much want some of the NIV commentaries too, but I wouldn't spend much on them in Kindle. $5 is too much for my blood, knowing that I'd really want them in a Logos edition in the long run. If there were a volume or two which I could benefit with NOW, I'd consider picking up them, understanding that I'd eventually be making a larger purchase in Logos.

I checked my Logos Library & found the NIV Application Commentary OT & NT. I had originally bought it quite a few years ago in Pradis (I think that is Zondervan) then Logos took possession of it & my Pradis was honored by Logos and they converted it or whatever so I already have the set. Happy me!😀😀😀
Its still a good offer on Kindle for those who just want a volume to read & highlight, but no copy/paste except a screen shot.

FYI, the Kindle for PC application does permit copying. I use it regularly, however some Kindle editions (usually of older books) are created from scans, and scan errors can be found in copied text which weren't visible on the Kindle page. But fixing those errors is much easier than retyping the whole citation.

The iPad Kindle App does not offer copy/paste, but we do have capability of taking a screen shot, then edit, and copy/paste that into Pages App (or similar) then Open in PDF Notes (or similar) then use PDF Notes to highlight, write on however one needs to.

I tried to investigate that before I posted, but I could not find a reference to any copy limitation in the Kindle help, and the Kindle book I've been using has not prevented me from doing extensive copying (but I'm sure I've not copied more than 5-10% of the whole work).

It might have changed, but I know that I hit a limit on a resource last year.

Hi BevN,
I don’t know if you are aware of this but there might be simpler way for you to access your highlights from Kindle on your iPad. All of your notes and highlights are actually stored on a website that you can log in to access them. Michael Hyatt, former CEO of Thomas Nelson, wrote a great blog post on how he gets his highlights and stores them into Evernote, you could use a different app if you don’t like to use Evernote just copy/paste from the website. Check out his post here.
Once the highlighted text is stored in whatever app you use you can copy/paste when you need the quote. You can even check you notes and highlights menu in the Kindle app to get the page number if available. Hope this helps.
