I noted a search item under BIBLE SEARCH which seems to yield no results. It is under FIELD:OT QUOTATION and the search operator is ot-quote:light [for the word "light"]. Does anyone have any insight into why it is not working?
Peace, Bill! *smile* Very strange indeed! ???? I do the same search and get lots of results ...
I will ponder on it for a while ...
Do you have a screen shot??? Here's mine: (There is a Forum Software problem with .png files; however, it should work....)
If you are using the Search field OT Quotation, just enter light. ot-quote:light is needed only if you select "All Bible Text" instead of the search field.
HCSB has some results, as does LGNTI, NA27 & UBS4.
That's interesting, Dave. You're right. But why don't other translations yield results? For example, the NKJV has "light" in some of the same hits.
Maybe I should clarify my last statement; that is, when I choose the NKJV it get no hits even though "light" appears in various O.T. quotes.
Ran the search in all Bibles, and the only returns that I got were in my Greek resources.
Peace, Lynden! *smile* Did you look at my screen shot in my post? Is that the search you made?
In case I'm the only one that can read that .png file, I'm attaching it to this post as a .jpg file ...
HCSB is the only English bible (that I have) with the search field OT Quotation. NKJV does not tag the text of OT quotes but you will find footnotes with references to the OT for those found in HCSB i.e. Matt 4:15-16, Acts 13:47. But then the search becomes more difficult
The ESV is (as usual) quite helpful as you can search for "cited from" in Footnotes OR footnote:"cited from". You can be clever but proximity only works with NEAR and BEFORE e.g. footnote:"cited from" NEAR light, or footnote:"cited from" BEFORE light.
Thanks, Dave. That was very helpful.
