How to delete from "my content"?

We currently have a number of users - so our content under "my content" is becoming very "full" and w/o any "organizational" ability in the software - very unmanageable.
To delete from my content you have to delete the pics one at a time!! Is there any other way??
Each time you delete a pic proclaim automatically takes you back to the beginning pic in "my content". Thenyou have to scroll through all the pics that proclaim offers for free to get back to ours. This would take a day.
Any solutions??

Yes! I will second this...The scrolling issue mentioned above by Pete is quite frustrating and time consuming. It also it doesn't always delete the content. I also find the "my content" section to be very slow loading even with loads of ram and a blazing internet connection. Its just too cumbersome. The ability to select multiple files and delete at once would be a good place to start, and would also fix the scrolling issue mentioned above simultaneously. Thanks for continuing to make Procliam better! I know I love it! ( for the most part, lol)

I'm also having an issue where I go to remove content from my library and the content doesn't go away. It stays in my content. Please fix this as well as the select multiple files to delete method.

As the 2 replies have also mentioned (and I have that same problem also) when you do delete content - it does NOT go away - and I've tried deleting the same pic countless times.

I feel your pain, too. I believe the content pictures are actually loaded into three different locations - content, Bible, and song backgrounds - and need to be removed from all three before they are like gone gone. I keep hoping the improved-library-management request is nearing the top of the Proclaim issues fix list.

I've tried to eliminate the same file 4 times now, and everytime I open proclaim, it's still there...
I'm trying to keep my list short after reading the issues you folks are having.
It doesnt seem to ever go away....

Currently, the "remove from library" functionality is quite flawed, and we are working to fix it in the upcoming redesign of the content library and store.
The content will be removed from library, but it may take a couple of minutes, and you have to explicitly query for media in order to see the removal. So, if you had a media item you were pulling up with the search term "tulip", you would wait for a couple minutes and then when you next explicitly queried for "tulips" in the search box, it would no longer display.
We realize this is far from optimal, and as I mentioned, we are working to have this fixed in a future update.

Any news yet?

Just want to add my "bump" to this issue. We need a better way to manage the library as well. Date specific stuff in our library needs to go.

So it's now the fall of 2013 and I don't sense any resolve to the issues mentioned in this forum. If so please point me in the right direction. Ann, what is the status on fixes and updates for removing 'content' from My Content? I've removed old services with the assumption that content can now be permanently deleted but this is not the case.

There has not been a resolution for this issue yet. You still have to right click Hide each background individually from the My Content view. We have plans to support multi-select in this view which should help.

This is becoming a huge problem for us. I hope you can resolve it soon. I've been told by the staff that if we can't clean up the content soon that I'm to find new software. Please don't make me have to find new software because my only other good cloud solution is ProPresenter and I don't want to change software. No matter how many times I click "remove from library" i still have the same pictures and videos show up the next time I restart Proclaim. Nothing ever goes away.

this was quite the trouble! one of my youth kids accidentally loaded pic folder from an event we had to the content folder and now we have tons of pic we cant even remove, and it is slowing the system so much and searching through content is just pain, actually so much pain that we stop using proclaim software for good about a year ago, and today i came back to see if there is a better way to manage the content, and it seems like they have not done anything to address this issue. wow. i liked proclaim but I don't think i can use it with this issue.

Content management is probably the weakest part of Proclaim. Is there a way to wholesale dump all our content and start from scratch? The software is set up to select an image which is fine, but a file manager approach to content management would be great.

Hey Brian,
To answer your question, no there is not a way to dump all of your content and start from scratch aside from creating a new group (which in turn would need a new license and is not optimal). The best solution at this point in time would be to do what Scott suggested and hide each background you do not want.

I just finished a meeting with one of our developers and we've decided to move ahead with a short term stopgap solution that should make content management much easier. We have spec for a larger scale store/my content redesign but we obviously need something better right now. The following is a description of the top pain points we've identified and how we will proceed.
- Multiple instances of the same user uploaded image - when you upload your own background image we make it available for Song, Bible, and Content service items. On our servers that means that there are actually three unique pieces of media referencing the same file. When you use the context menu (remove from library) to remove that item from your My Content section it only removes that instance (Song, Bible, or Content) of the media. In order to never see the item again you need to remove it three times, once from each service item kind's My Content section. This is not what users want and we'll be deploying a service side change to make the Remove from library context menu remove all three items at once.
- Delay in server side indexing - when you remove a piece of media from My Content the change is delayed. It takes about a minute for our server side index to reflect the change. This is confusing for users as it looks like the item was not really removed. We're working on a way to instantly update the server side index to reflect the change.
- Inability to remove multiple items at a time from library - once removing content from your library works as expected you'll probably want to do a bit of house cleaning. Adding multi-select capabilities to the My Content section will help with this process.
Thanks for your patience and we will get these fixes out to you as soon as possible.

We have just deployed a fix for issue #1. Now when you remove an item from your library and wait at least one minute (see issue #2) for the server side index to catch up, it will be gone for good.

I've just spent almost 2 hours deleting image files. And It looked like they were gone but when I re-opened it they were all back!

Kenny - I will follow up with you offline.

Correction: Apologies for the confusion, I've now realized that this fix has not been deployed yet. Talked to the services team and they think they should be able to get it out this week.

How about adding the ability to specify if a picture is for use as a background or just in a slide show. We did a slide show for some halloween events we had, now all those pics show up under my content when looking for a background. I don't need pics from a slide show included in background content. Maybe file content could be managed through Faithlife under documents.

Scott, any updates on the progress with this? I have a ton of images I need to clean out and would love a better way to sort so I can do so. Additionally, the load time is prohibitive to truly taking advantage of the 1,000's of media we have.

Hello there,
We are planning on improving content deletion in the future, however I do not have an ETA to give you right now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I second this (designating images as slideshow-only vs. backgrounds)! I like Proclaim's looping capability for adding images to a pre-service slideshow, but because I don't want the pictures cluttering up my background library, I have resorted to creating separate slideshows in PPT and importing. Not a showstopper, but it's not making the best use of Proclaim's built-in capabilities.

Wow. The OP was over a year ago. Content management is still pretty much non-existent. I'm assuming this is pretty low on the priority list. It is frustrating.

Your frustration is valid and I apologize it has taken us so long. However, we are actively working on the new content management spec right now and it's going to be awesome!

So...is there a better way in the works to do a mass delete? Many of the images in my content are powerpoint jpegs, and it's a pain to ctrl-click each one (up to 50) and then delete. I'd love to be able to do a large scale clean up (click-shift-click)...and mass tag editing. Any changes ahead?

Hello tczinder,
A better media management system is still being worked on and developed. For right now, ctrl+click is still probably the best way to delete a larger number of media items at once.
