Can't Uninstall Logos 5 - Windows 8.

Hi. Logos has run fine in Windows 8. I need to uninstall it and reinstall it on a 2nd interal harddrive I bought (SSD) for my laptop. I thought I installed it there, but there is an update trying to install and its insisting on installing on C:/ drive but says C is too full.

When I go to Uninstall Programs (normal windows uninstall spot) there is no Logos in there to uninstall. There is also no uninstall file in the /users/j/appdata/local etc... folder

How would one uninstall logos if they ever wanted.

Also I noticed a logos 4 folder in the above location. Don't ever remember installing anyting with logos4.. especially since this laptop came on the market AFTER logos 5 came out. Never even owned logos 4. Although once I owned a libronix package with 10 counselling books. Maybe thats when I put it on here. Can't recall.

I basically want to clean ANYTING logos related off.. and do full blown install int the new ssd I've installed.

The Windows "add /remove programs" applet in the control panel should do the job just fine.

Because of the way some system folders were hard coded into L4, and because L5 seeks to be compatible with L4 by design, some directories will be named L4 even though only L5 is used. It is not a problem - just a lesson learned for the programmers who will do differently in the future.

You should be good running the remove script from the control panel's add/remove programs tool. Then install using a custom install.

HOWEVER because of the large downloads you might want to look here for possible bandwidth savings: http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers especially method 3 or 2.

"Programs and Features" is the applet name for Windows 7, 8 and Vista. The Logos 5 programs that should be listed are:-

Logos Bible Software 5 - uninstall this program

Logos 5 Prerequisites - leave as is unless wanting to totally remove Logos from the machine.

I apologize for the difficulty. Depending on how much free space is available on C:\, it is possible you might get an error over insufficient space before you choose location.

Logos installs two parts, the "Prerequisites" installer has to be installed with the Windows directory, along with the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 (if it isn't already installed). I'm not sure exactly how much space these components require, but you shouldn't experience problems unless you are extremely low on disk space for C:\.

Also, as mentioned, if you install Logos4, we retain that directory name in the appdata\local\logos directory. This isn't anything to be concerned about. When performing a custom install to a second drive, only the installer files are stored in this location (about 80MB).

Exactly how much free space do you have on C:\ and can you free up more?

Hey guys. Add/Remove programs was where I went first. I'm posting because a Logos 5 is not listed there to remove. (I'm pretty familiar with OS stuff - not to brag...just saying I'm pretty familiar with getting around windows.. IT stuff.. networks).

So.. I suppose I could try to reinstall it, then hope it shows up in Add/Remove programs.. then remove it.. and finally try to indicate during install that it should be installed in the new SSD drive.

When I log on, Logos 5 says it has an update. When I click install I get this error message:

Out of Disk Space - Volume: 'C:'; required space: 10,628,124 KB;
available space: 7,595,800 KB. Free some disk space and retry.

Basically C drive was partitioned (this is a Lenovo ultrabook) outof the box into only 67 gigs + 60 gigs or so on D drive. They chopped it in half. Makes no sense.

Currently there are 7gigs free on C.

I installed a 256gig SSD and tried to reinstall Logos 5 on it. But this install is saying that 10 gigs are needed to go onto C drive.. which seems HUGE.. like its installing the library completely over again.

THoughts?

If you check the Custom installation option you can store Logos on the SSD e.g. specify drive E:\ and Logos 5 will install into E:\Logos5.

HOWEVER

First, run Microsoft Fixit to get rid of the old installation and then remove the Logos4 folder from C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\.

Game over. I decided to get aggressive. I tried Fixit to no avail, even tried reinstalling logos over the original hoping it would resinstall the registry entries. The installer wouldn't let me install over a previous version of logos5

So... I downloaded a trial version of Revo Uninstaller Pro. I pointed it to the folder where Logos5 was and it found stuff in the registry on both the new SSD drive and the original C drive associated to Logos file. It deleted it all and all associated files. I then did the same for Logos4.

I am now doing a fresh install of Logos 5 on the 256gig SSD - E:/

I created a simple folder e:/Logos5 and told the INSTALL to put it there. I assume that should sufficiently ensure that future updates are downloaded to the larger E: drive rather than the C: drive?

It will install as e:\Logos5\Logos5 -> as I mentioned above it was only necessary to specify E:\

Yes. I have no problems with Logos on my E:\ drive. You will have a Logos folder on the regular C:\ drive path but that only holds the installation files (do not remove it).
