CP Explosion

Logos is apparently getting very gung-ho about putting products on Community Pricing. There are currently 151 items on CP, which is the most I have ever seen. I love CP, but unfortunately have a limited amount of money to spend. And Logos seems to be speeding up the digitization process so that a book can move into production within a matter of a couple of months. That can stretch a budget and force some order cancellation.
One of the downsides of so many CP products is that some get stuck in the mud. I hope that Logos is seeking to expand the number of users who are active on CP. That is the only way to get all these products through CP.
Some of the many CP products that could use a boost:

Daniel, thanks for pointing this out. Personally I didn't realize that there were now 151 resources. I'm a faithful CP bidder and I have placed a bid on almost all of them. The shear number of resources could contribute to less people placing bids because of the overall financial commitment.
Logos has tried to boost interest in CP by offering free books by using the process but the challenge is to convert those people who sign up for the free book to actually begin to place bids on other resources. I would be interested in hearing from Logos how effective this has been in getting new people to place bids.
It would be interesting to hear suggestions from other Logos users to increase the number of people participating in CP.

I thought that I would comment on these separately. Thanks for pointing these ones out. I increased my bid as a result. I agree that they need a boost as do many others.

No, one of the advantages with so many CP products is that few get stuck in the mud. Three years ago there were about 6-8 CP's, and every one of them was severely stuck. The more they've added, the faster they've gone through, and the fewer have gotten stuck.

fgh is right. The more people who participate, the better. If there are very few CP resources, people will think: "there is nothing for me, I won't bother." With the large amount of resources, there should be something of interest to nearly everyone.

That's an interesting thought fgh. I have been waiting on the Mormon Studies Collection for a long time and it is not even at 20%. But I suppose I should be thankful for the many products that do make it through.

I know this has been pointed out before, but the Hasting's Dictionary of the Bible has gotten stuck in Pre-Pub. Overall Logos has gotten very proficient in cranking out resources, so I really should just be grateful and not complain about the few exceptions to their proficiency.

$30 for 45 vol.?! That's quite possibly the lowest /volume price of any CP ever (excluding the free ones). And there's over 500 pages/volume. And Logos needs to create a whole bunch of new datasets for it. No wonder it's stuck! There aren't too many Mormons around here, and given the low prices Logos chose to list, I'm guessing they vastly overestimated the interest in this particular field of Apologetics. I would strongly encourage everyone who wants it to move their bids to the far right. Actually, about $3-4/volume would be more normal for such a 'narrow' collection as this, but that's not even possible to bid.

Logos should offer a broader range of prices to choose from. Even at $85 (the highest bid the page allows) this collection would likely not make it. Overall the CP system is a good one and I hope that Logos is finding ways to promote it. The more bidders, the better for everyone.

All of the Classic Commentaries on the books of the Bible taught me that however good a deal CP resources are, I need to be selective about what I buy. As tempting as it was to go after each set, it was pie in the sky to think I could. Unless you have unlimited resources, you need to find the level that works for you - and that's going to be different for each of us. I've got no sour grapes for the sets I had to let go because I'm getting awesome deals on those I do buy.
I'm pleased to see the traction CP seems to have got over the last 12 months or so. I look forward to buying many more resources on it in the future - just likely not all the resources I'd like to buy!

The CP that I am surprised to see stuck is the English Bible Collection http://www.logos.com/product/16808/english-bible-collection

Yeah, MJ., that's a shame. That's one of the few bids I've made (since I think it was sometime early summer 2012). It has the 1865/1866 Common English Version New Testament - many who prefer the Textus Receptus for the New Testament would be pleased with that version! I have a part of it as printed matter, ordered from a library in the U.K. many years ago. Bidding low (current projected price $30) doesn't help at all. This collection used to be much smaller. Then Logos suddenly added many versions to it, but people didn't raise their bids despite the increased value, perhaps because they didn't notice, perhaps because of greed/thinking it would still make it.
Once I bought a used item - it must have been on CP long ago, I paid just $4½ (CP price $6), it's Essays in Greek.
